Hi. How are you? You had discussed a issue with a Toshiba model 50L1350U in a post a few yrs ago. I've one with the same issue and its the exact same model too. Was there a trick to taking it apart?Did you ever fix that set? -
How does a panel fail this bad?
It's been our everyday tv for the past 7 years. It's a Toshiba Regza
It's taken about a year to get to this state. No question a bad panel so I'll have a nice donar. Believe it or not, it started as pin hole spot and has grown slowly and seems to be spreading like a cars windshield crack.
Just a matter of how much longer I can stand it before buying a new set 😆... -

Thanks Max sorry for being so vague and thanks for offering advice
When I jumper PS ON and GRND then plug in I will get get a relay click Indicating it was forced on without the digital main in the equation. Then, after powering down, I jumper 3 and 4 at the logic test block. Re-powering up we hope to now generate on screen test patterns. However, I can see the onscreen flicker just for a second but no test patterns on screen at all just black and no screen glow.

I have taken a "hard drive jumper" and jumped pins 3 & 4 on the control board test block. Still only solid standby with no change in the tv coming on...Leave a comment:

Sammy plasma PN42B400
Its got a red standby light on the front bezel ONLY. Solid red no flashing codes! Tv just wont turn on. Something is preventing this from turning on
What I've done.......
Swapped both the Power supply board and Y-sus boards with known good ones.
"No change" with either swap. So can rule out both a bad power supply and bad Y-sus board.That being said, there is NO relay that can be heard either.
My huntch is the digital main board is preventing it from turning on?? Shopjimmy... -

Have you tried the flashlight trick? Placing the tv in a dark room and while the set is on hold the flashlight up to the panel at an angle to see if there is any motion going on?
If so you'd be looking at a backlight inverter, Burnt out LED strip or tcon itselfLeave a comment:

Yup Budm that's the one!! Got 2 of them now. Both identical, one was the stock PS board the other was actually ordered from shopjimmy. Ordered dozens of times from them never an issue. Standby only, me thinkin PS board not the issue?? Ceramic fuses check out just fineLeave a comment:

thanks for response!!
Top row (even numbers 22,20,18,16 etc....) does nothing as that portion of the harness is empty
Bottom row (odd numbers)
Pin 1 reading 3 volts DC
pin 3 reading 5 volts DC
Every other pin seems to be reading nothing??

Samsung BN42B400P3D PLASMA standby light only.
Little red light front of panel is on but the tv won't turn on. either with remote or pushing front button.
What I've done so far, I replaced the PS board with a known good replacement and NO change. All caps on old board looked good. Ive seen cases where a bad Y-sus can prevent these from turning on. However, in each of those cases unplugging the Y-sus board from the PS will usually result in a change and will allow you to turn on just no picture.
What also baffles me is there is NO usual "relay" click... -

Older Sammy plasma may be worth saving? Standby light but won't turn on. Swapped power supply board with known good replacement. No change. Unplugged the Y sust. Harness to take it out of the equation then powered up. still no change. Same thing with the Z sust. no change!!
Is it feasible that the inverter (filter as it's labeled) is shot? I'm referring to the silver block that the plug goes into, from there it feeds the PS board. Successfully repaired a few LCDs but plasma different animal.
Appreciate all feedback

Thank you my friend!! Very relevant tutorial. While I didn't replace any individual LEDs. Using 2 AA batteries jumpered to Achieve 3 volts I was able to test each bulb, sure enough 2 deadbeats within the string.
Shopjimmy had a replacement set (12 in stock actually) for $39 so I ordered, they arrived and boom!! We have backlight!!
Now for getting the trim plate and bezel back on without damaging the wafer thin panel!!
Final step......dim backlight via remote control...Leave a comment:
