    Apex LD3288T

was given this Apex LD3288T lcd which has either/both power supply+inverter, ccfl problem. the PS+inv is identical to the one in this post

    https://www.badcaps.net/forum/attach...2&d=1401829518

the tv works (a/v on inputs, tuner works) but the ccfls are very very dim - bright video is viewable in a completely dark room but still very dim. i've seen lotsa posts on the net about this PS/inverter & china sells newer versions for $30+ which i will buy if i'm sure the ccfls are ok. i'm guessing ccfl replacement isnt easy, but i'd be happy to hear my guess is wrong.

i got a ccfl tester from ebay which lights up some small ccfls (10-12" on a 17" lcd) but not this tv. i found what might be the ccfl ~750mm, which could be too long for the tester - <720mm. i'm using a 12v 1.5a PS for the tester which should meet its specs, but if i need a 2a PS i might have to buy one as i havent found one in my collection yet. will 2a make a difference? do i need a stronger tester (any suggestions)?

    thanks for your help

    Re: Apex LD3288T

after some more reading i decided to get the new version of the PS from ebay ~$35 shipped in 10 days, well packaged with an inch of bubble wrap etc. from hongKong

the Q3 version has 2 caps near each inverter output (not 1), so some redesign is apparant. transformers on ebay were around $10 but i wasnt interested in testing components this time when the new PS was so cheap.

put in new PS & it fired right up, and has been working without an issue for a month. the only issue is there was no remote, and it takes 2 remotes of the ones i have laying around to change inputs from one to another - TV, PC, component, etc all work well - but only 1 remote will bring up the input options onscreen & the other will scroll & select. the side buttons do work to do the same thing if i want the extra exercise. some day i'll get a learning remote or whatever if i want to sell what is now an extra screen.

HANNSG Hi221 -- 2 secs to black feat. CCFL flicker & "burn" marks on power board
      by ttmi100x
      Greetings everyone,

I have a HANNSG Hi221 monitor that exhibits two seconds to black issues (backlight goes off, display is still on as confirmed by shining a flashlight on it) with some additional oddities...

The monitor failed on me with a standard "2 seconds to black" some time ago prompting me to initially replace most of the electrolytic capacitors (some of them were bulging/leaking).
Things kinda sorta worked for a night, then the problem returned along with some flickering and "buzzing" noises.

      Upon closer inspection...

Help on Samsung Syncmaster T220 dead ccfl lamp
      by mikey5791
      Hi,

This monitor previously is my main working monitor which i have been using for 8~9 years. Yesterday, when i switched on my pc from fresh to power on, the monitor is just black no display. I started dismantle to look inside the monitor power board but nothing looks suspicious or burnt. So i took my external ccfl inverter to try to power the monitor ccfl lamps which consisted of 2 lamps on upper part and 2 lamps on the lower part.

Found out the upper ccfl lamp which is supposed to connect to cn304 on the power board did not light up. Then i installed a used working...

      NVidia bumpgate
      by piernov
Just archiving everything related to bumpgate since most stuff has disappeared from Google. Maybe people will finally take the time to read some of it and stop shouting "reflow gpu" at every occasion but rather try to understand what the real issue is…
Interesting parts about the failure analysis are "Why Nvidia's chips are defective" and "Why Nvidia's duff chips are due to shoddy engineering"

May complete this post at a later date with more details.
Basically issue is a combination of thermal dissipation of the chip with hotspot,...

Trying to troubleshoot DDR4 SODIMM slot with slot tester
      by Lifeisfun
      Hi folks!
I have some kind of memory problem on Lenovo laptop. I was initially able to install windows after several tries since the laptop did freeze in middle of those attempts.
Eventually I discovered that it was related to moving the laptop.
Later on it even stopped booting unless I pressed around the memory slot. (no keyboard LEDs only power button responds)
If I remove the RAM I get the beeps that RAM is missing. Inserting the RAM there is silence and it will not boot most of the time. No picture.

I removed the board got one of those memory slot testers...

Reverse engineering of 18650 4-channel tester
      by spleenharvester
      Hi friends

I have reverse engineered this tester, schematic is attached and is complete except for capacitor values. These testers annoyingly have no model number but they are the ones you find on the first page of just about any website if you type in "18650 4-channel tester". There is also a 2-channel variant and a newer 8-channel variant. They are very cheap (about Β£15) and can measure voltage, current, internal resistance and capacity. They have a multicolour display for all these statistics. They also have terminal blocks so that if you want to use a breakout board...
