    Dead 37" RCA 37LA30RQ

I picked up a mint 37" Rca LCD tv. It is dead with no stand by light or anything on it.Person said it came a storm and the TV went out and that was it. Well took it apart and nothing ovbious. I have attached a pic of the main board and the part circled in red gets really hot when the power cord is connected. Would this cause the dead issue? How can I test it. I do have a multi meter.

It could be shorted. It looks like it is the CPU core supply, there is a chance the CPU is bad. Try measuring DC volts on each pin, red on pin/tab and black on chassis.

Measure volts on the board I posted, Right? I know this may have or I say was a dumb move on my part but can touch a few of the can type capacitors on top of them on the power board and I feel a slight tingle from them. Is this normal? What is the part called that you say could be shorted?

Yes, on that board. You should avoid touching the power board, as electric shock could result. (Tingle is normal.) The device in question is a voltage regulator IC.

Thank you for the replys. It will be the weekend before I can get back to the TV. Can you lead me to where to order the part on the board that is getting hot? Is it a 3.3 regulator? That is all I am coming up with by searching EH16A, That is what is printed on it.

First, need to check and see if it is bad, or if a component is causing it to appear bad. So no point ordering it until you have tested it. It is probably a 1.2V CPU regulator.

Tom can you tell how I would know if the CPU is dead? I will be getting back on the TV tomorrow and you mentioned the CPU.

Here is some voltages from the power supply. It shows 004 on my multi meter on 5v pins and shows 0 on the 24v pins. Also I made a mistake on the mainboard about what was getting hot. I have redid the pic and circled what actually is getting hot. Also the gray canister thing is also getting hot. The voltage is 002v on the legs of the black part that is getting hot.[/IMG][/IMG]

Here is the main board, I could not figure out to put 2 pics in one post. The parts that are circled in red get very warm. The volts on the legs 004 on the outside legs and 0 on the middle leg.[/IMG]

TCL Roku 55S403TCAA dead after storm
                    by bobbintb
I have a TCL Roku 55S403TCAA. It quit working after a storm. Other electronics quit working as well so I am pretty sure the storm had something to do with it. Anyway, I took a look at it, no obvious damage, blown components, scorch marks, etc. I am looking at the power board first, 40-L141H4-PWG1CG. I've repaired bad caps and blown components but nothing more extensive beyond that. I am trying to troubleshoot it, but I can't even find the fuse on this board. There are markings on the PCB saying "replace fuse as marking" however. I attached a photo of the board. I am also testing the...

Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA Stand-by light on but voltages on PS indicate TV should be on
                    by DXseekerMO
                    Hello everyone!

Tonight I picked up a Samsung UN65NU6900FXZA with a curious issue.

                    Symptoms:

                    1) Plug TV in to AC outlet, stand-by light illuminates briefly and goes out.
                    2) TV does not appear to turn on
                    3) Backlights do not illuminate, voltages associated with backlights on Power Supply are not present
                    4) "Power on" terminal on Power Supply has 3.26v
                    5) "A13V" terminals have 12.9v
                    6) Stand-by test jumper on Power Supply has 12.9V
                    7) Optical audio jack on Main Board illuminates
                    8) With stand-by...

How can I be sure that my EC chip is dead?
                    by double_DD
                    Hi all,

As the title suggests, how can I be sure that my EC chip is really dead?

I've recently gotten into this hobby of laptop repairs, and have successfully brought back to life a couple with some easy fixes, mostly shorted caps.

Now I'm working on HP Probook 455 G8, that had some "devil" run around on 3V line, burning a bunch of stuff. Luckily I have a dead 455G7 (for spare parts) so I managed to fix it (swapped burned parts) to a point that it will charge (both on barrel jack and usb-c), but it doesn't want to turn on. There is a 3V3 on a keyboard...

note that the samsung led momitor is ok and working fine with another laptop same cable.

                    Schenker VIA 15 PRO, PF 4NU1F V1.0, P/N: MBPPF4NU18-F310 - 36mA in stand-by
                    by FriedFred
                    Hello, everyone!
I have here a Schenker VIA 15 PRO, with this numbers on the board: PF 4NU1F V1.0 and P/N: MBPPF4NU18-F310 .
I took out the memory and the battery and the SSD.

So, in stand-by, only the board, takes 36mA. No power-button pressed at all, I can measure 1.8V, 3.3V, 5V. All coils present voltages except the two power rails for the CPU. The CPU is a AMD Ryzen 5 4600H.
After pressing the power-button, the current raises to 500mA and the two power rails for the CPU show up with 0.8V.
After several seconds, the fans switch-off and the board keeps powered...
