my 32 LG LED TV was working this morning. While I was watching it there was a high pitched noise over the speakers and then it went dead. No standby light or anything.
I've taken the cover off to visually inspect the power supply. Caps look OK but the larger of the two copper coils looks to have burnt out (see attached photos). This corresponds with a burn mark on the back cover (also in the photos).
Confirmed that I have 240 into the board and no DC out.
I've fixed a few monitors over the years using the advise from badcaps.net so I'm hoping for some guidance on how to determine if this component is the problem, and if so where to source a replacement. Being in New Zealand sourcing a replacement power supply is going to cost more than the TV is worth..but I would like to keep it out of the landfill.
I have a multimeter, soldering equipment and an ability to follow instructions
Thanks in advance.
