Panasonic TC-P42S30: AB vs AD SN boards

I have a Panasonic TC-P42S30 plasma TV that went TU a few days ago. After following diagnostic procedures that I found, I've determined that the SN board has shorted out. Replacement boards are apparently in short supply, but I've seen a couple of used ones on eBay.

Before grabbing one of those, I thought I'd ask: Is there a significant difference between those marked TNPA5349-AB and those marked TNPA5349-AD? Mine is the AD flavor, and the eBay boards are AB. I saw in a sticky thread that "sustain boards are usually specific to a particular screen size", which leads me to believe that an AB board would work OK... but if anyone could confirm that, I'd be grateful.

They are but if they're fitted to the same size then generally the differences are very minor.

I would just get the AB, both were fitted to P42S30 and according to Shopjimmy data, the panel part number is the same.

Some reasons these boards get hard to find are, it's a weakness and plenty fail this board, most pull the old board out, put a new one in and discard the old one which is repairable and quite a few have successfully repaired these at a fraction of the replacement.

Point being is that Panasonic won't carry or manufacture boards forever. My 2010 FHD model, that board I have been informed is no longer available here from Panasonic.

So if you're unable to repair the board yourself, it never hurts to plonk it on the Ebay or ?? and sell it as a core for repair.

Thanks very much, appreciate the quick reply. An AB board it is, then, and hopefully that's all it will take to get that TV working again.

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board

All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
        • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
        • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

Panasonic th-p50s10d - blinky red, SC board go boom
        by dajoker
My old plasma died when one night recently. When I got to it it was giving a 3.3v sos (3 blinks).
I chased my way through the PSU, and a board, with no results.
Replacing a few bulged caps in the PSU, I eventually got to the SC board that had piles of shorts, a quick cheap replacement from china and the tv powers up again, except
I only have the right half of the picture.
        Left half is completely blank.
now the c3 board running this side of the screen has its 3.3 and 5v onto the buffer ic and its got the 60v, so that all seems good.
        all the other voltage rails...

        Problem

This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

        Panasonic SA-MAX770PU SMPSU board fault....
        by Rictech
        Hello everyone. 😀

As per thread title, this unit has a serious SMPSU fault. It blows F1001, which is a 10A M205 in the phase from the mains input.
Very first thing I tried, was simply replacing the fuse, but the replacement ceramic fuse blew immediately.

Looking at the schematic for this PSU, I then removed what I thought was the next likely candidate: D1001 - the HV main bridge rectifier.
This isolated the fault(no longer blows the main fuse), but does not point me to the actual fault.
There are no devices that have exploded or otherwise show signs...
