Re: RCA 42" RLDEDV3988-a flickering video
I checked the voltages in the inverter cct and used alligator clips to test. When I am taking voltage the backlight comes on and stays on. I found the voltages should be about 30V but it was moving around between 28-61 volts. Could this be a cap issue or semiconductor.

Re: RCA 42" RLDEDV3988-a flickering video
Usually if you set it on a source with no signal you will get a solid blue screen. But it sounds like it is a common problem in the back light of this model to have 3 with similar troubles in quick succession. If you get into the settings you may be able to find a setting labelled Energy Saving or something along those lines. Turn it off and see if it quits pulsing. I think it may be using pulse width modulation to keep down the power usage but it is set at too low of a frequency.Leave a comment:

Re: RCA 42" RLDEDV3988-a flickering video
I can see the backlight LEDs flashing. I thought it could be an inverter board but can't find one. How do I get a blue screen? Is it a test screen?
I also cannot find a schematic or service manual for this tv.
The customer told me she has another RCA tv(the exact same model) and it also flickers. This tv is in warranty so she is going to send it for repair. I told her to let me know what they find so I can fix. I will let you know garfield-cat. Btw, hows the weather out there in NS?Leave a comment:

Mine flickers about once per second regardless of what is on the screen. I can still see the image in the background when it flickers so I am assuming it has something to do with the back lightingLast edited by garfield-cat; 08-27-2014, 11:57 AM.Leave a comment:

The video flickers. Cannot find any service manual or schematic for this tv. It is a tv/dvd combo. Here are some pics of the unit, assuming the small boards are the buffer. Here are some pics of the boards. Not much too see. Do the boards with the ribbon cables control the video, or is there a power supply or backlight issue.

by ugamazingI have three identical-spec 820-01700 boards (2.6/32/512), and ALL THREE boards came to us with the same fault, from different sources: The boards don't wake from hibernation with the keyboard or lid, they ONLY wake when you press the power button. I understand this is a very minor issue, but the boards must be fixed!
We will of course begin with the obvious (checking lid signals), but I couldn't help but notice these three boards were all 32GB variants. Has anyone noticed an issue relating to these 32GB boards in particular? I of course don't think it's a RAM issue, but it's bizarre... -
by reessiHello,
The monitor started off showing flickering thin (1 pixel) lines horizontally every say 3mm..
They are black on the right and gradually fade to nothing on the far left.
They start either after 5 mins or up to 2 hours after so annoying for testing.
They flicker continuously very fast! With a slight pause milli-second every second.
Initially I cleaned the LVDS cable and connected to the T-Con and then it worked fine for 3 weeks but not sure if this was just co-incidence.
I tested each half by removing the first the left flex from...-

by sam_sam_samThis is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot
Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it... -
by Rick_1234Good evening, gentlemen.
I have a problem with my monitor. It turns off after a few seconds or flickers. Shining a flashlight on the screen doesn't show any image, so I guess it's not the "2 seconds to dark" I read in the forum.
To turn it back on, I have to press the power button twice. Then after a few seconds it turns off again or flickers. See video.
