    Samsung LN32C540 (Blinking Light)

Problem: when I try and turn the tv on, a red light blinks and then eventually quits blinking. When I try and turn on the power again, nothing happens.
    Hello guys,
First I'd like to thank you for your time. I'm trying to repair my TV because I use it as a dual display for college and I need it this upcoming semester. I am a beginner so please bare with me. I thought after I bought my powersupply, the issue would be resolved. However, it is not. I have been Googling constanlty to figure out the issue. I THINK my problem is the mainboard or the connectors because the backlight turns on when the mainboard is disconnected ot the PS. Also, when I take voltage measurements with my multimeter where the PS connects to the mainboard, I am getting abouit 12.2 V when I need 13 V. Does this make a difference? Would that mean the main board is bad? Here I made a picture, the main board is labeled A1 and A2 by the desired connectors.

A1 (Do not know the proper schematics of voltages):
    STARTING FROM BLUE
    pin 1 (blue) - 3.3V
    pin 2 - 0.004 V
    pin 3 - 3.3V
    pin 4 - 3.3V
    pin 5 - 3.3V
    pin 6 - 3.3V
    pin 7 - 3.3V
    pin 8 - 0.007 V
    pin 9 - no wire
    pin 10 - no wire

A2: Schematics starting from gray are(13V,13V,5V,5V,GND,GND,13V,13V.)
    pin1 (grey) - 12.2 V
    pin2 -12.2V
    pin3 - 5V
    pin4 - 5V
    pin5 - GND
    pin6 - GND
    pin7 - 12.2V
    pin8 - 12.2V
    B1:
    pin1 (grey) - 12.2 V
    pin2 -12.2V
    pin3 - 5V
    pin4 - 5V
    pin5 - GND
    pin6 - GND
    pin7 - 12.2V
    pin8 - 12.2V

B2 (do not think these are relevant to the situation because my backlight comes on when I disconnect the PS and mainboard. I heard that samsung made it easier to diagnose what is wrong.

Notes: I was getting impatient and accidentally left a screw off when the power was turned on and the PS board sparked when it made contact.. Did i screwed up my powersupply? i have measured the voltage it is putting out and it's the same.

I was also messing around with the B2 section of the powersupply (measuring volts) and the TV turned on. Is this just a coindence or did I jump that wire somehow?

Guys, once again, I am not really good at this all and I'm only trying to learn.

    Thanks for your time,

Can you post good clear pictures of your boards - we prefer not to have them posted in line please use manage attachments jpg less then 3mb should work.

When you say the TV turned on you mean the screen lit up and it stayed on.

Was this your TV and it just didnt come on one day - have you seen it working ok?
Please upload pictures using attachment function when ask for help on the repair

Here is acopy of the SM. Look at 4-1-2 No Power, pages 4.2 and 4.3. Measure these voltages on the Main Bd. Be careful not to let your red probe tip slip and short cct anything. Black lead attached to metal chassis.

Thank you sir, I am on that part but I am stuck when it says check BD207. What is BD207? I looked it up on Google and found nothing and on the manual the only refrence to BD207 is the sentece I see to say to check it.

No the red power light blinks when I press power and then it just quits.

And no this problem has been occurring but I was just able to kind of let it sit for a while and it would power on. So I thought it had to do with the powersupply so I reaplced the powersupply and the issue still occurs.

And yes I will make more detailed pictures later.

BD207 is probably the designation of a part(printed on the board). If we had the pictures we could tell.

Could be a diode on board B if they give their boards letters

I feel really stupid, is there a way to edit my original thread??? I have looked everywhere.

I cant really see the board designators in your picture - you would need to
take it in 4 quarters to get them clear enough.
I have looked at some other boards and BD**** is a valid sort of designator
                could be a ferrite bead.

Question When you say the TV turned on you mean the screen lit up and it stayed on.

Answer No the red power light blinks when I press power and then it just quits.

                I meant this bit
I was also messing around with the B2 section of the powersupply (measuring volts) and the TV turned on. Is this just a coindence or did I jump that wire somehow?

If you simultaneously look at the pic supplied on page 4-3 in the SM and your Main Bd, you should be able to find those BD**** test points. Observe the callout boxes with the BD**** test points and the rRED arrow showing the position on the board. Of course you wouls have to position your Main Bd to that position shown in the pic.
                  See the attached pic
Actually I don't know what the BD means. I think SELLDOOR gave a fair assumption as to what they may be-Diode on the B board.
                  Hope this helps.

Sir, I am really new to this. How do I test the BD207? I think I found it. Also, what do you mean about the rRED arrow? I found a mainboard for 60 dollars also. I just want to make sure this time if my mainboard is defective. :/ Is there a way to do this? I'd imagine I just follow the troubleshooting steps but I don't even know how to start..

                    Thanks for your time.

Set your DMM on the 20Vdc scale to measure these voltages on the Main Bd. Be careful not to let your red probe tip slip and short cct anything. Black probe attached to metal chassis and red on the BD**** test points. If you found one of them then you would find the rest. These voltage checks are to confirm your fault is in the Main Bd and if any is missing then you would have to get the 'new' Bd or you can just go ahead and acquire the 'new' Bd and slip it in and see what happens. Best wishes.

Thank you, but I must have been mistaken when I thought I saw BD209. I can't find any BD 207 or BD209. I used my multimeter and tried testing all the BD_#'s on that section... None of them put more then .3 V or so.

Here is a detailed picture of my mainboard. This is on the very top right of the board.

can we have the 4 quarter pics as requested in post8 and and answer as to
'how much the set came on.

In case you havn't noticed the board shown as being out of the service manual
bears little resemblance to yours so those test points shown may be largely irrelevant

To your answer on how much the set came on:
When I turn on the TV manually (can't find the remote right now), I get a flashing standby light for about 5 seconds. This video is an exact replica of what happens when I try to turn the tv on.

                            https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02Re-UmG9Gc
Now as for the 4 quarter pics, what do you exactly mean by that? Do you want 4 pictures each 1/4 of the board? Or like 4 quarter lengths away?

OK so when you said it came on you meant it started flashing the led.

Does your set have one of those chips this guy replaced? if so did you test it?
The 'F9222L' I.C is a Fuji Electric controller that creates the 24 volt to the inverter board. You can test if it is working or not by volt measuring the five 24v output pins. If it is faulty it commonly reads <5.v

One picture of each quarter of the board please.

edit: nevermind. The quality went down terribly on each picture. I am going to have to find an alternative to show you these pictures. I cannot attach them since they are 8 mb each.

EDIT AGAIN: I just made two pdf documents for each side. Hopefully it works.

Here is the whole main board

OK Pics still are not great - not enough light probably.
Anyway I cant see anything obviously burnt and there appear to be 2 similar test points top right - see pic. Only problem is I am unsure exactly where the points are.
I think they are where I have marked ^ BUT they may not be.
Also what is the part number on that 8 leg component.
You also still need to try and find a service manual for your set

If you are using windows it usually comes with Paint - you can re size on that or if you have Microsoft office you can use picture manager but there are many other programs
even some free ones. Maybe one on the CD with the camera?
5v may show with it just plugged in 12v you would most likely need it powered up.
