    Pioneer Plasma PDP-42A3HD Video Problems

Hello, I have a Pioneer Plasma PDP-42A3HD TV that experiences video issues after a few minutes of being on. The center of the picture fades in and out and there is a general green tint that comes in and out also.

I've run the TV with the back off and a few small fans on it, thinking it could be an overheat issue, and it did delay the symptoms significantly.

    Any ideas where to start?

Get your hands on some cooling spray or canned air. Spray different spots after your picture goes funny.

Re: Pioneer Plasma PDP-42A3HD Video Problems

Thanks dcapper. I allowed the TV to run for a while, and the picture gets bad, and then the TV clicks off and comes back on with a poor picture, fades in and out, and that cycle repeats.

I did use the compressed air on all the components, but it did not improve the situation. Any thoughts?

Do the symptoms look like a YSUS board problem?

Looks like Vsus may be unstable, have you checked if it is OK? It should be around 200V.

Thanks Tom, where is the Vsus? Trying to locate it in the attached service manual.

This is the board, but which connection do I need to test? I am trying to find what the voltages should be so I can test, but no luck so far.

So it turns out it a ribbon cable was detached that was out of sight. Once that was re-attached, I was good to go.

So in my case, this was a bad YSus board - PKG42H5G1. Picked one up for $40.

                          I appreciate the support.

Hello out there in Badcap land.

I have a Pioneer plasma that gave me the dreaded 8 red blink and shutdown, I have been trying to trace the failure points. On my last inspection while replacing a Y Sustain Board I noticed on the original and replacement board some missing solder, the points of connection
are from the Digital Address Board and the Buffer Boards. I have included the pictures, should I resolder these points or are they unsoldered intentionally? Any help would be much appreciated.

                            Thank you

Got my hands on an relatively unknown TV brand about two weeks ago.
I certainly hadn't heard of it before.
Previous owner didn't give a description of what was wrong and when I got it the back cover was already off.
I put it on the back burner until I had so spare time to look it over.

                            Today was that day.
I plugged it in and was surprised to see that it started up without any issues.
This is an older TV and the most modern video input that it has is DVI.
I was scrambling to find a DVI connector or adapter as I haven't fooled with that...

This is from my son’s gaming computer that at first had minor overheating issues when playing a very intense game with it causing the computer to crash or reboot

Then bough a new motherboard and a new computer case that a cooling system in it already installed also brought the cooling system for this video card but now the issue with it is that it randomly rebooted screen goes blank randomly and suddenly video freezing or started with video being there then blank screen and then the video comes back or it just stays blank for a while and then maybe it will come back but it...

Pioneer Pro-FHD1 Elite. Failure to power on.

I'm new to this awesome forum, and have been reading like mad, but have not seen the answer to my challenge.

We bought this Panasonic plasma monitor 16 years ago and it has never been serviced, so all parts are original, and the unit has never malfunctioned -- until about a month ago. The system fails to power on. At first (a month ago) this happened rarely. We learned to unplug for a few minutes to drain the caps, then re-plug, and the monitor would start normally. Now, we plug-in, turn on the main power switch, and the...
