samsung ln40a500t1f, tv turns on, inverter shuts off

so I got this tv in, and soon as I power on the tv lights up 1 sec then lights turn off but tv stays on, so I did the flashlight test and I still see the picture when I press menu, so I bought a used inverter off ebay and still same thing, so what could it be?

You could have one bad ccfl, it only takes one to be bad to not work. I would check each one, unplug all of them and try each one on its own and see if it lights.

OK, this TV use balancer board to drive the lamps. There is small connector on toward the top of the board, there should be some labels like FB, LD, etc. We need the voltage reading on the LD pin. There are some more things to check on the balancer board also, it can be bad lamp.

Is it possible its a bad main? The dim pin goes up once powered up then after inverter goes off then dim voltage goes all the way back down, plus there is no samsung melody noise when powered on or off like all samsungs have right?

More likely a CCFL tube gone than a mainboard issue. Did you know--You can turn that Annoying 'melody' off in the menus!

What is the P/N of that power supply/inverte board combo? BN44-XXXXX?
How about the post 5 I ask for the voltage readings?

It's a ccfl bulb I had a samsung just like this one and did the same thing. If you take the screen out and turn the tv on you will see the back light turn on and you will see which ccfl bulb is bad.
