    LG 65UH9500 TV Panel replacement seal?

    Hi,

    I am in the process of replacing the backlight boards on the LG 65UH9500 TV. It requires the separation of the front glass/panel to get to the boards. The panel is help on to the frame with some kind of strips that I cannot reuse to adhere the screen to the frame. Anyone have any experience/Ideas on what I can use to securely hold the 65" Panel to the frame. I would hate for the panel to fall face forward. Thank you in advance.

      Picture? Didn't know LG glues screens down. You can use the same strip tape. On eBay put "LCD screen tape" and several options can show up.

          Thank you! I was able to find the tape I needed. This TV is a borderless TV... The Glass is adhered to the metal frame with it.

              Welcome. Yea I don't like these types of tvs. But gotta do what you gotta do!

                  Some new tvs have an LCD screen attached to the outside of the frame with foam tape. These are "edge to edge" as they are called. I am trying to figure out how to reattach an LCD panel back up to the frame. The manufacturer used 3/16 inch foam tape along the top and rh/lh edges. I used a razor blade to separate the panel from the metal frame. The metal frame that the panel is taped to is 1/4 inch wide along the 2 sides and top. I completely removed the residue from the metal frame. There is some residue on the panel itself along the 3 edges, I removed almost all of it using alcohol and...

                  Problem

                  This is an LG edge LED lit LCD Display. The LEDs are on the bottom edge of the display. There are 2 bars (left and right) Each bar has many LEDs and a 6 pin connector. Each pin drive several LEDs thus is the highest current flow / heat junction. The weak lead free solder gradually fails with thermal expansion/contraction cycling and increases resistance. PSU will compensate up to a point, then when the current is too high, PSU just shut down the backlight causing a dark display. I have even seen one which the connector just fell off as solder points became completely detached....

                  All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
                  • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
                  • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

                  SAMSUNG UN50TU8000F rebooting, backlight ok. No 12v to panel boards.

                  TV flashes backlight then reboots over and over. no image. Client said it used to have image for a bit before rebooting. Got worse over time.

                  tcon is built into mainboard.
                  Only one cable goes to panel boards.
                  there is a cable from one panel board to the other that links them.
                  cost cutting measure that results in us having harder time to diagnose.
                  removing the link to the second panel board allows TV to stay on with stable backlight but no image.
                  used cut off tape method to mask 1 maybe 2 pins on the side of the cable that goes to that second panel board....

                  QN55Q60R Service Menu Panel Help

                  I had a the above tv qn55q60r that had a bad panel but everything else good. I had another panel here from un55nu6900 with bad leds and melted diffusers.

                  I put the nu6900 panel in and powered it up and it does work but there are lines vertical lines.

                  I was trying to change the panel type in the service menu but don’t see my exact panel. Anyway to fix this or someone have similar experience.

                  the clear picture is the panel type from the service menus on the nu6900. The other 1 is the panel type that was set for the q60r with the bad panel....
