Re: TEAC LEDV32U83HDR(takes awhile to come out of standby)

Hey vinceroger this problem seems intermittent.

as sometimes when i switch the set off at the power switch it will work fine.
then you play with switching it off and on at the button a few times it will fault like above mentioned.

I have done a factory reset on it, thats when the set behaves and fires up with out a problem

Re: TEAC LEDV32U83HDR(takes awhile to come out of standby)

Hey Vince thanks for the reply.

The problem seem intermittent as the Set will fire up fine most of the time.
You have to flick it off with the mains switch on the TV and then flick it back on and press the button.

also making sure I am hearing a whine coming from the transformer before pressing.
I am wondering if its a transformer winding or possibly filter caps as these have not been changed.

possibly worth trying replacing the caps to rule them out maybe budm or tom might have ideas i hate intermittant faults just when you think you found and solved it they come back.

          Yeah intermittent faults are annoying.

            check the factory menu

Software checksum is ok. rules out epprom.

Software checksum refers to the flash, not the EEPROM.

                Could the eeprom be faulty?

I have just done a little test on the PSU.
                  Disconnected everything attached to it.
                  Tested
                  con2
                  (12v)13 & 12 = 14v
                  (5v)8 & 7 = 5v
                  (standby)6 = 5v
                  (ps-on)5 = 0v
                  (5v)4&3 = 5v

aren't all these meant to be switched off except for the standby.

                    Anyone have any idea.

I have posted some pictures of power supply.

Seems like the power supply is stuck on.

I have had a look at 3 resistors.
                      2x 250 OHMS tolerance 5% = 150
                      0.68 OHMS tolerance 5% = 9

                      Is this correct?

The 2 resistor were actually meant to be 150, I thought a band was red when it was brown.

                        Blue Grey silver gold = 0.68 5%
I am only getting 0.9 from this one.

I have fixed the main switching on problem I managed to reinstall the firmware.

                          We have transformer sequel still.
Would replacing a resistor 0.68 that is reading 0.9 fix this?

                            transformer squeal*

So you switch it off and you can hear a audible pulse coming from the transformer.

would this 0.68 ohm's that is reading 0.9 be causing this squeal or pulse from the transformer.

Here is the firmware if anyone wants it.
as its not on teac's website anywhere.

If u have the occasionally turning on problem it can be fixed with a usb key and this update.

Extract from Zip file first then copy to usb bin file, making sure file name matches "BIN_MSD_306.bin"
                              Obviously with out the quotes.

I would look for a leaky diode one that is loading down the standby supply but not enough to keep it from functioning. I only see one on the board excepting the bridge, maybe one of the output diodes. Resistors dont go down in value -I would say that resistor is fine

This is my first attempt at troubleshooting a board like this, I know I could just buy a new board but I'm curious to figure out how this works. I've been testing different components in the evenings this week and I think the problem is with the IC failing to start up for some reason. When the board is plugged in there is no standby voltage.

Then today it randomly sprung to life like a zombie but shortly died thereafter. I have no idea why it would have done that and its the first time I've seen it running. I discharged capacitors on the board last night, then it was sitting today....

                                    by fharris1977
Hi. I got a Vizio with no power or standby, and won't turn on with remote or button. I checked the voltages on the connector and all read 0.00V or nearly 0(0.050 ON/OFF pin). None of the pins are labeled STB for standby although I do see some 5V pins. Other than the obvious standby led, which isn't coming on, is there a way to check for standby voltage on this PS. I'm trying to see if my problem is the PS or mainboard. Some Vizios I have fixed with no standby led me to think it was the PS but it turned out being the mainboard. Any experience with this set would be greatly appreciated.

                                    Hi all.

I started a thread while back regarding TV power supply standby circuitry as it is something I am not quite on top of.
SMPS theory and function is becoming more familiar, however the standby part is still a bit of a mystery.

Anyway, a friend has this TV with the above mentioned power supply board which has no standby voltage, nor any other voltages leaving the board.
The mains AC comes in fine, gets filtered and rectified with power is on the main filter cap as well as the transformer and drain pins of the ICE3B0665J, but that's it.

Hello forum. I've recently been given a Yamaha TSX 120 DAB radio and ipod dock. Its working well however when put on standby its using 6.3 watts. The manual states less than 1 watt on standby. I measured this with a plug in monitor which seems accurate with other items. In use it uses around 7.5 watts. Firstly has anyone who owns a similar radio also got a plug in monitor to check if this is normal with this unit? In the first half a second the monitor shows 0.3 watts which I suspect is what it should use but something is switching it to be almost fully powered. I've searched the manual for eco...

I am trying to re-purpose this power supply that I saved years ago from a tv with a cracked screen for a monitor but that is not really that relevent at the moment. I do not recall which tv but a google search looks like it is from Wharfedale LTF37K1.

You may notice I made some alterations moving some components to the top and some wires which are from a 5v regulator I fitted to the 12v output as the monitor requires 5v. The standby was already at fault from the beginning, it has nothing to do with the alterations...

Years ago it had some bulging caps...
