I am having a issue with my samsung dlp tv. About 2 months ago; one evening; the color wheel suddenly broke; and the lamp was working before the color wheel broke; So; i ordered a replacement off ebay; put the new one in once i received it; reconnected all the wires and cables to the proper places; and turned the tv back on; only to find out the lamp was not lighting. I doubt its the lamp; as i took the lamp to a repair place and had it tested and it lit up just fine so i know its not the lamp. That leaves me with the dmd board and the ballast. how can i test both the ballast and the dmd board to determine where the issue lies? if i dont have access to a multimeter?

Re: Samsung hlr4667wax/xaa
Can you confirm the color wheel is spinning, if it does'nt start the lamp won't light. also is the color wheel the exact same one for that chassis, L6 or L3, on some there was a jumper on the dmd board to either remove or install depending on the type of color wheel installed.
•Air-bearing needs a jumper put in.
•Ball-bearing needs the jumper removed.Last edited by R_J; 04-26-2014, 06:08 PM.

Re: Samsung hlr4667wax/xaa
where do i find the jumper for the wheel? I already have the optics tray taken out of the tv. yes i am positive it is the correct wheel for my model tv. mine I believe is the l3 chassis. I made sure it was the correct one before i bought it. As for the color wheel spinning; i cant hear any spinning of the wheel or buzzing from the ballast; so where do i head from here.Last edited by matts6887; 04-26-2014, 08:33 PM.

Re: Samsung hlr4667wax/xaa
What is the chassis number (L3 or L6), and what is the part number for the color wheel you received?
Is there a version number like PU02 or PW01 ? should be on the label on the back or the small label on the side
Another thing to look at does the ballast board look like it is perpendicular to the rar of the chassis or is it on a slight angle to the right?
Make sure the flat ribbon cable is in the correct way (foil contacts to connector contacts) it can go in backwards and not make connection.
I always referred to Samsung as SamsJunk because every tv with the same model number was different, We would order parts 3-4 times and sometimes never get the correct parts. Even after sending Samsung pictures of the original part and part number.

Re: Samsung hlr4667wax/xaa
chassis is l3 Im pretty positive. the part number is bp96-00674a. The ballast is on a slight angle. And yes I put the ribbon cable in the correct way; facing towards the back of the tray; towards me with the glass lens facing toward me. Thats the way the it was put in. And i am positive the one i received is the correct one.Last edited by matts6887; 05-02-2014, 10:37 AM.

Re: Samsung hlr4667wax/xaa
another thing is; I am thinking it could be the dmd board; as Im pretty sure i tried putting the ribbon cable for the color wheel in both ways; reconnected all the cables etc; and tried to power it up and still got no lamp; and i hear no spinning of the color wheel; no buzzing from the ballast; and i am getting no lamp. Thats why I sorta think even though I see a green light on the dmd board when it has power to it; that the dmd board is partially bad. The only thing i hear when i power it up; is a click from the tuner/component input board where the cable(s) would connect to; and the fan for the dlp chip and the bigger fan in the back for the lamp.Last edited by matts6887; 05-02-2014, 10:39 AM.
