Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
the snow is probably a bad cap letting ripple/noise into the processing circuits.
i'd replace all the small electrolytics - if that dont fix it, try the large ones.

Hence why I call it a stupid price, I really do not know how these companies sell any boards at those prices. Maybe to warranty companies only.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
You can often buy the board through something like Sears or a parts distributor but you would be looking at a stupid price ($300+) in most cases.Leave a comment:

I am going to try to call Panasonic tomorrow to see if they will sell me the board. Not sure if i will have any luck with them since i am not an "authorized repair center"Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
It's a common failure and Panasonic panels are sold in lesser numbers and are more resilient to being broken unlike Samsung panels so it's rarer to find a cracked one for parts use.Leave a comment:

this board seems pretty tough to get for a TV that is less than 4 years old.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Checked online and can only find a repair kit for that board. The kit says it is for most problems with the SC board but lists blinking fault codes which mine did not have.
could this work?
"The Panasonic TXNSC1LQUU SC Board Component Repair Kit includes all necessary components to repair common failures on the main SC board. Symptoms include will not turn on and power light will blink 4, 5 or 7 times."
Specifications: Kit Includes
Description Quantity Board Location
Transistors 8 Included With Kit
Resistors 3 Included With Kit
Diodes 1 Included With Kit

Should have picked that, copy/paste straight from SJ without checking they had it correct, which obviously they don't.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
I'm pretty sure the C2 is no go due to being 720p panel?
Can try some diagnosis there is a schematic, I am thinking it is the init-field FET that is not being driven correctly, best to have a scope but can see what is possible with a multimeter.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
The first shot is the SC board.
The second is of the SU board bolted/connected to the SC board.
Could be a very hard board to source.

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
With a modern Panasonic panel such as this, simply locating a 50" series 2 board (TC-P50G2, TC-P50V2, TC-P50S2) with the same part number and suffix should be OK. You need to avoid getting a 3D board (TC-P50VT25 comes to mind) or a 25 series board as it will likely be different. Also you can't use a 42",46",58",65" board without considerable modifications, so best to avoid those.Last edited by tom66; 05-31-2014, 10:26 AM.Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Yes the new board will probably be the best solution as my soldering skills are not the best and will be unable to obtain an oscilloscope. Do you know a good place to get a new board will be? Will there be any adjustments to make after changing the board or will simply swapping for a new one be sufficient?Leave a comment:

Re: Panasonic TC-P50S2 Snowy Picture
Yes I'm aware of that, the problem is it's probably going to be down to a very small component in that circuit so locating it will be hard. You would probably require an oscilloscope.
Maybe the best bet for you is to locate a replacement board since you've narrowed the fault down to one board.Leave a comment:

by FZGHello!
I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.
Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.
I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?
Also, what mechanism is this?
Any feedback is appreciated!...05-06-2024, 07:16 AM -
by Bazfletch3Hi all
While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).
I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.
From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however... -
by Tr0llHi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.
The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.
Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.
First replacement T-con:
I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)... -
by JJAAMMThis was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.
Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode... -
by mar1inHi everyone,
I've got this Panasonic TV here with the following symptoms:
* Standby Light is solid RED
* Turning on using the Button on the TV (long press) would change LED to blinking GREEN
* After a couple of seconds, LED is solid GREEN and without picture or sound.
I've tried a couple of things before tearing it apart:
* Resetting using various combinations of powerbutton and volume buttons pressing down while booting.
* Activating Self Check according to service manual using IR Blaster (we have no remote unfortunately)... - Loading...
- No more items.
