So two weeks after the warranty runs out, my friends big Sony plasma TV goes all psychodelic looking. I assume this means the colors are all over the place, like when you hold a magnet near a CRT. Is it junk, now? Was barely a year old.

Hmmm....I have no idea to be truthful. All I know is that the plasma screen in my 1983 portable computer still works great!
I guess it could be caused by a number of factors and it really depends on the problem on whether the television is fixable or not. It does seem very fishy that the TV decided to give up just outside the warranty period.
Got to love how 'quality' products are made these days. -

I guess plasma technology is not all that new.
Got to love that machine, 640kb of ram, 40mb hard drive, 286 processor (12Mhz) and it weighs 10kg. And that was considered portable then!

Mmmmm...Gas plasma display.
As for the TV, it might be bad connectors but it really depends wether it fell of the wall and damaged the screen itself. Then you have problems.Find Nedry!

Hello,
I am having Samsung PS51E550 Plasma TV. While the TV was working, a crackling sound heard & video went off with audio still ON. After switching it off & ON, the red LED on TV blinks six times & then off.
Opened TV cover & observed foll
a) Green LED on the small PCB blinks at @5-6sec ON & off for 3-4 secs. Red LED on logic board ON
b)Vs & Va on power supply board raises momentarily to 209v & 58v resp & then drops.
c) Cold test on Y-main board shows all 3 pins of FGPF4536 IGBT short to Grnd.

Hi,
anyone able to provide the service manual for old plasma Panasonic TX-P42ST50E?
It turns off almost immediately (0~5 seconds after pressing the on/off button) and starts flashing the red diode 6 times.
I disconnected the left-hand side board (SC?, both the ribbon cable and the power cable to it) and also another ribbon going to bottom left board. Then the led signal is 8 flashes. According to service guide to another Panasonic plasma it would mean the left-hand side board is faulty. But I'm not sure it 100% applies to my model.
I checked that board for any obvious faults... -
Picked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on... -
This is my first posting, so forgive me everyone in advance if I made mistake(s) in my posting.

I even looked for the 50PS11 which would be basically relevant other than display size. Anyone know to find the documentation would greatly be appreciated.
