Re: i can not fix a plasma i need some help....
The Panasonic and Hitachi?
tw2005 was working through you on the Panasonic? -- suggest you continue that thread.
Hitachi plasmas are nightmares to debug - they will shut down without an error code. I have never fixed a true Hitachi plasma before. (Only an LG re-badge one.) I had one randomly go into lock out after pulling connectors. Could not get it to go back out. Apparently needs a new control board, would you believe it, crazy. So...... uh, good luck? Sorry not much help.
Plasmas aren't that hard to debug, but you do need good gear. Generally I'm finding plasmas easier to repair although I admit the learning threshold is steeper this is more due to lack of content regarding them. Also, I highly suggest an oscilloscope for testing the sustain boards. Before I got my scope I was always taking stabs in the dark wrt to fixing them.Last edited by tom66; 04-07-2014, 09:02 PM.Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Check your Vs/Va in the current state, then. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Yes - It should match what is written on the Panel Sticker. Have you read my thread on plasma troubleshooting? Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Yes, the point is now to methodically break down the problem and figure out if you have faults beyond that fuse. So check Vs/Va match the sticker first. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: i can not fix a plasma i need some help....
tom I checked the vs/va coming off the power supply, and im not getting any voltages?Comment

Re: i can not fix a plasma i need some help....
OK, so why might that be? You'd probably immediately say - "bad power board"? But it's more likely related to that fuse that blew. Fuses usually blow for a reason. Perhaps, try removing that fuse temporarily and powering it up, then see if Vs/Va rise. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Tom I will do that in a few mins when I get back there. And thanks for working with me on this. And I know were doing the hp, but the hitachi don't have vs or va eitherComment

Ok tom,i took out that fuse, and still nothing changedComment

No Vs/Va? Where are you checking for it?
Absolutely no clue on the Hitachi, I stay away from those for a reason, wouldn't touch one unless it were free. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

ok tom here we go. I wasn't getting any voltages cause I didn't turn it on, turned the tv on without fuse vs 183v, va 58v.. so that's pretty close to what there suppose to be. 186 and 60. so then I put the fuse in and try to turn it on, it turn on for about 2-3 sec then turns off,,,, no picture or nothing when I say turns on,,, just like with one fuse it turns on but no picture, so its gotta be the y sus or what?Comment

Re: i can not fix a plasma i need some help....
You will probably find a short on the Y-sus. But, if the Z-sus chains from it, make sure to isolate that, too. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Check if the Z-sustain power cable comes off the Y-sustain. If it does, remove it for the time being. Please do not PM me with questions! Questions via PM will not be answered. Post on the forums instead!

Re: i can not fix a plasma i need some help....
Tom. The y sus and zus are not tied together.. they both come off the power supply separetly. And also if this matters I disconnected the bottom scan buffer that's connected to the ysus and tv stilll would power on. Then I connected the bottom scan drive that's connected to the zsus and tv wouldn't turn onComment

by KYBOSHPicked up a bahemoth plasma TV not too long ago and just now getting around to looking at it.
No picture but you hear the TV static (white noise) playing loud and clear.
The back was already taken off (and no screws were provided) as the previous owner had already taken a look.
But it seems they didn't get too far and just left it.
When I first took a look I was amazed at how pristine the inside looked.
Its as if the TV had been in a time capsule.
Caps looked like they were just pulled off the self.
Copper coils had no sign of corrosion on... -
by YanlebDo you know where I can find a firmware upgrade for the Hitachi 42HDT79 plasma TV? My set currently has firmware V0112.0001.
Their service website seems to be on SalesForce now, which requires a login.
Thanks.11-05-2021, 11:55 PM -
Hitachi 32HAE2351 Vestel 17MB171 - Rotate Image
Mainboard: VESTEL 17MB171 Chassis: VES315WNGB - 2D - N52
The TV was stuck on the logo and I couldn't access the update menu.
I couldn't find the firmware for the Hitachi 32HAE2351 and updated it with the Toshiba 32WA2063DG - Vestel 17MB171 firmware.
The image result was good, but the image is inverted.
The image rotation/mirror function doesn't exist in the Menu Server. I can't correct the image.
Do you have the firmware for the Hitachi 32HAE2351 - Vestel 17MB171 motherboard or a solution to rotate the image in... -
by canadaboy25Hey guys, I recently acquired a Hitachi 55HDX99 plasma TV that doesn't work. The TV powers on and eventually goes into standby which is indicated by the blue power led changing to orange. If I plug a VCR into it to keep it awake, I can feed an audio source in and it will play the sound no problem. The volume controls on the TV work as well so it is obviously just a display problem.
I found the Hitachi service manual online which is also hosted on tom66's manual archive. Compared to the Panasonic service manual I had for the last plasma I worked on, this one is underwhelming to say... -
Hi all. Up until 3 years ago I used component video as the connection between my Comcast cable box and this TV and never had any issues with it -- it always worked perfectly. Then I upgraded my cable service and the new box had only an HDMI connection. The Comcast remote controls both the cable box and the TV. About 50% of the time, when I would first turn the TV on I would get video but no sound. After trying new cables, a new cable box, and switching between the two HDMI ports had made no difference, I changed the video source to see if that made any difference. It did not but I did notice that...
