If it's not those caps, check the fuse on the t-con, had a couple vestel 32" with Samsung panels & this fault, little 4A 0603 fuse.

tom my eyes aren't the best i'm having trouble finding the fuse.

              dmm on 200 ohms?

nvm spotted them, f1 and f2 correct?

ok f1 seems dead, a bridge is ok for testing isn't it and order the fuse tonight if it is the fault?

also tom, are you sure they are 3a fuses?

Provide a picture of the T-con if you're having trouble...

well tom, you were indeed correct, f1 was bad, bridged it for now to test and the tv powered up fine

                  F1 and F2 are labelled with a P

would these be a suitable replacement

                  http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271226741766

looking round i've seen a post stating they are 3a fuses and not 4a used

                  Appliance model chassis 17MB22.2
                  F1 and F2 all 3A

                    P is a 4A fuse. I think 3A would blow too quickly, power consumption for T-con is around 2~3A @ 5V in.
Also don't buy that quick acting, buy slow blow / time lag type.

Same price for 10 (free delivery) plus might as well get some caps for PSU while you're at it:

                      thanks tom

think this tcon has had it though (hope it's the t-con), powered it back up to go through the rest of the tv, theres now mulitcoloured lines taking up 1/5 of the right side.

powering on and off removes some of the lines but if i goto analogue and thers no picture just static (because of no aerial) the portition of the screen is just black with fewer lines

Could be both fuses are blown, one is for logic and other is for main power..

new fuses fitted and still the same

                            new t-con?

ok pretty sure it's the t-con after many many attempts of reseating the cables and what not i got a full picture once or twice, now the tv turns on and the the part of the screen is still there with the lines only now the picture glows then slowly/gradually fades away until all that is left is the fault on the right side

It could be a bad panel. but it's fairly rare on these... how many ribbons?

leading to the panel? just the 1 at the top have reseated both sides and the symptomns remain

when i'm switching inputs and using the menus the selection change seems very slow like the image is slow to change on screen

can ribbons or lvds cable go bad on there own?

seems if I leave the tv on the slowness and loss of colour and picture clears up and menus return to normal as done a input change but the bar on the right side is still there

but after a off then back on it returns, wierd

That's a panel problem... I think the far right tab is loading down a signal too much. Could be a tab bond problem but I'd be surprised.

the slowness and image being slow/disappearing has gone all together now after me leaving it off for a hour or 2 multiple turns off and on and it's gone

just got a piece of rubber/eraser and got to the far right tab bond (no damage from what i could see) place the piece of rubber on the top reassembled making sure not to dislodge it and the screen is now perfect

is this a short term fix or?

I jumped the gun too and ordered a new t-con

It may or may not be permanent, it's a fairly rare issue on these panels so cannot be sure.
