I see that there are many problems with TV tab bonds/chips on LCD TV but not on Laptop computers. I have seen laptops screens go bad but they are not made the same and seem to be alot more dependable. Am I correct to assume that they are made different due to larger voltages/currents for larger and brighter displays? Plasma TVs dont have the ICs in the tab bonds, at least on the sets that I have worked on. The ICs on the flex tab bonds sometimes rest against metal frames around the screen as a sort of heatsink. Why cant they just put the IC chips on the boards with a heatsink and use tabs like the Plasma set? The distance is only a few inches more, but maybe it makes a difference in high speed circuits.
Question seems simple enough but I am not a engineer. Older TVs were alot more dependable but were lower resolution
