PN50A450P1D Thin(1 pixel wide), colored vertical lines - only right half of screen

I just picked up This 50" Samsung Plasma TV from my brother-in-law, thinking that it would be a simple repair. After reading several threads, and doing a lot of research, I'm lead to believe it could be one of 3 things (or sadly a bad panel): a loose ribbon cable, Y (why not X, since the lines are spaced along the x-axis?) Buffer Board, or the Timing Control board. The vertical lines are only 1 pixel wide and are randomly spaced out, but only on the right half of the screen. They consist of magenta, cyan, and green. Would anyone have any ideas, or be able to provide a little more insight to narrow it down to one of these replacements?

Almost certainly a bad panel if they are randomly spread out, this is a common issue with this model of Samsung plasma.

Hi Tom66, what do you mean a bad panel? Is it the main board or the t-con board? Thanks

I mean the plasma display panel itself has failed, more specifically the bonded chips at the bottom of the panel, unfortunately this will not be economic to fix in most cases as a new screen will exceed the value of the TV.

          Newbie here.
If the same type of symptom (thin vertical "noisy?" Colored lines) were to be evenly bad across the whole screen, would that also indicate a bad panel? (failed, imbedded chips at the bottom?)

Vertical Lines on Half of LCD Display
            by rfxcasey
I have an Siemens HMI with vertical lines on half of the screen. These lines aren't scrambled garbage but rather very regular in pattern and color. I have replaced the LCD with a new one and still the problem persists. I'm wondering if this isn't indicative of a bad video process chip or video memory? Any help would be appreciated. The cable appears to be OK but one pin on the header is unpopulated, though there isn't any loose wire to suggest one broke off or popped out of the connector. In the picture below where the connector is busted out of the side, I did that with my small screw driver...

TCL 55S425 few horizontal lines, potential failure on both side of panel/buffer board
            by howardc64
All left and right refers to looking from rear of TV (or looking from front with TV upside down)
            • TV came with vertical bars and no image. Found faulty TVS on left buffer board. Also replaced T-Con (may have damaged the original while hot air removing components, board has slight warp) and have full image but few horizontal lines on the screen. Some of the lines appears to be 2 pixel tall while others are 1 pixel tall.
            • Disconnecting left and right buffer board potentially reveals problems on both sides with different signals (unless this T-Con require jumper like Samsung FB_TRDY1&3) Fault

            Vizio M58Q7 colored horizontal lines

Hi guys, I have a Vizio M58Q7-J01 and now there are some colored horizontal lines on the screen. Could someone tell me if it's probably a panel issue or something related to other parts and can be fixed? Thank you in advance....

LCD Tv starts to display black horizontal lines after half an hour of use
            by Gjackson
Hi, I have a sort of old Grundig LCD Led TV that starts to display black horizontal lines after some use. After it's been turned off for a while and cold it does not display any artifacts however after some use it starts to display some faint horizontal lines at the top of the screen and a bunch in the middle of the screen. The longer the tv is on the worse they get until they become very clearly visible. I suspect that heat has something to do with this as when the lines start to appear i notice that the tv's metal case has gotten warm. Could the T-CON start to malfunction when it starts to get...

LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE - Vertical Lines on Half of The Screen?
            by ItalianSat
            Hello Everybody,

I have a 40 inch LCD SAMSUNG LE40A656A1CXXE. Its problem is that there are Vertical Lines on Right Half of The Screen.

Interestingly enough, when I move my mouse (in the case if connected to a PC) or when I am watching the TV, lines also move. At first appearance, I had thought that the problem might arose from loose vertical ribbons (COF), but when I opened up the TV for further investigations, I realized that the problem cannot be solved by touching them.

Moreover, I detached the T-CON board for a new round of investigation. I personally...
