Panasonic TH-46PZ80U plasma 7 blinking lights

Please help me diagnose the problem with my Panasonic plasma TH-46PZ80U. I don't have any equipment to test the TV and I'm trying to decide if it's worth buying some used parts on ebay to try and fix it.

I got the 7 red blinking lights of death. I was able to "fix" the TV by detaching the ribbon cable from the SC board. I would then power on the TV and the blinking lights are gone. I would then reconnect the ribbon cable and be able to watch TV for anywhere from 1 day to 1 week before I would have to repeat this procedure.

Given this information, what part(s) most likely need to be replaced?

    Thanks

it sounds like either an SC board or D board fault. These boards are pretty cheap because they rarely fail. One of the things you should first do is check the SC board cable is seated on both ends - it goes under the A board and connects to the D board.

If that is good, you will need a multimeter. There is a point marked TP_SOS7 on the SC board. You can check the voltage here. If the SC is bad, when the set shuts down it will spike up to 2V or more. If it doesn't, then it's more likely a D board fault (the SC isn't completely eliminated but is much less likely.)
