lc 80le632u - Lamp error - TV working after counter reset via buttons

Hello everyone, I just got my hands on a Sharp lc 80le632u TV that initially had the 1 short, 1 long blink sequence. That indicates a lamp error, however if I follow the isntructions to reset the error counter, the TV starts correctly: no missing LEDs everything lods just fine.

I went through the process to get to the diagnostic screen, and got this ( attached).

Since all LEDs are working correctly, and the TV seems to load fine after reset, that tells me that the power board and the LED strips are working correctly. Could this be a main board issue?

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you for your time!!!

Trying to remember these, If I recall these sharps can throw lamp errors rather easily from even small variations over time. If it's working fine now, think I would do a firmware update and use it, if it errors out again right away then you probably have a led circuit problem, of course you can always check after a while to see how many if any lamp errors there may be.

Being that it's from around 2012, I would not be surprised if it had some bad/weak leds tho.

            Thanks everyone for your replies!
Trying to reset the lamp errors, but having issues with that. I followed the guides I could find online describing the process:

Turn the LCD on and then unplug the power cable.
While pressing and holding the {INPUT} & {VOL -} buttons on the remote, plug the power cable back into the outlet.
When it powers up you will see a little "k" appear in brackets. Then on the TV, press the {VOL -} & {CH -} buttons at the same time.
The Service Menu will be displayed.
            {CH +} & {CH -} buttons navigate through options.
I am locating the Lamp reset option,
{VOL+} & {VOL-} buttons to change the option from false, to true.
To exit, turn the power off.

But when I try to turn it back on, same lamp error led signals are present, And if I follow the above process, the counter is still 5 ( as if the reset didnt worked, or didnt save).

            Any ideas?

            Thank you!!!

As always BE VERY careful what you do in service menu, now go back and reset the lamp errors, then go up to Industry Init and set it to on, hit ok/select then when the screen changes and says success, turn tv off, for good measure unplug it wait a minute and try it. Make sure it's that one because there may also be a industry init (public) leave that one alone.

Hello nomoresonys, thank you for the reply! The problem is that I dont have a save dialog

I can only flip the flags from off to on, but I dont seem to have a save button, and no indication of the changes being saved.

I went through all 26 pages of options and the only one that loops promising as a "Save" option, is EEP save on page 26 (last page). Do you know if that is the option for saving the settings?

                Thank you!

Check again, it might be on page 2 at the top.

I don't know what the EEP is but I don't think it's for industry init.

Hello nomoresonys, thanks again for your time! Unfortunately, no dice. On page 2 I do see the Industry init and the lamp error reset, but even if I change tthem to "ON" and wait a while it looks like the settings are not being saved.

Remote control is not working either so that is not helping with the navigation, but I can power through.

I was also able to get the TV to connect to internet, and check if updates were available but they were not ( I did that after I turned on with the input and vol- key combination).

Any other ideas on how to get the reset to be saved?

                      Thank you!

Ok, that's probably the problem, maybe clean the remote or get a new one, I believe it's reset lamp error, move to industry init, so with both on and industry init highlighted, then push ok/select on remote.

In service mode, change the Lamp Error and Industry init to ON then unplug the tv from the ac receptacle, wait about 10 sec. then plug in the tv You can use the tv buttons for this you don't need the remote

True you can use the buttons, the remote just makes it much easier to program, especially with those big blinding screens.

My instructions may not have been for that exact model, try both hopefully one will work.

This usually does the trick for my remotes, specially when some buttons are not working, remember to never pry or push towards your hands or any body part, always AWAY from. So if it slips it goes into the air not you, gloves are a good idea for the disassembly, I put a little screwdriver thru my palm a while back doing that wrong https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0HUEIVHSkTs

                                      Hello guys, I have updates!

First, you guys are awesome, thank you for all the replies and help troubleshooting the issue.
Second, I am not very smart, and didnt realized the remote receptors were blocked by a ton of styrofoam. Once I removed it, the remote sure started working!
Third, just unpluging the TV after making the changes did NOT work for me. Once the remote entered the chat, and I was able to hit "ENTER" via the remote, changes started saving correctly.

TV now starts correctly, no error at the beginning. Will keep the error counter checked to see if it increases, and if it does I might open a new ticket.

                                      Thank you!!
