    Tatung P42HSMT Power Issues

So I bought another $10.00 42in Plasma again. This is a Tatung P42HSMT. I was told that the set was fine & then 1 day it was turned on and it shut off after 10 sec. (Protection Mode I think) Well I got it home and pulled the back off of it and powered it on. Immediately the PSU's Led8002 & Led8001 turns off and then Led8004 turns on red and the TV turns off and cannot be turned back on until I unplug it and reconnect. I have done some research trying to find a manual but it appears that the PSU (which is Samsung LJ44-00068a Rev.02) is fairly common & found in various Samsungs (Duh!), Phillips, Magnavox, Sanyo, Norcent & apparentley Tatung Plasmas.

So far what I have done is unplug the Y-sus & Z-sus to see if the psu still shuts its self off because of those boards and it does the same thing (red led) plugged in or not. I cannot find any obvious damaged caps or blown/fried components on any of the boards. I have checked all of the bus like fuses and they are fine also.

I would really love to fix this thing for I have many PSU boards to get parts from and I have two other (Sony KDE-42xs955 that needs a YSUS & a Vizio vw46L that needs a tcon) large panel tvs that im into around 10.00 each, so I would really love to get this thing working.

PS. I have a service manual for Phillips 42MF230A which supposedly shares the same PSU as this tatung, only prob is the component labeling on this LJ44 does not match the exact labeling on the manual & I am already having a tough time trying to read the thing and find the areas its pointing out the diagnose.

Please help me Budd.M or anyone as good as him.

Have you checked if you get Vs and Va voltages from power supply? Post a picture of the voltage label on the right hand side of the plasma panel.

I get voltage on VA and VS but they are nothing close to that label either on standby or during power on.

So, what do you measure on Va and Vs?

VA @ CN8005 where the buffers plug in at I 65v and dropping and the VA pin above it I get 135v and dropping

            VA @ CN8006 on VA Pin 1 i get 143v & dropping & VA Pin 2 I get 140v & dropping

VS @ the top right corner plug I get 1.399v @ standy by when on I get 2.744 and dropping.
2nd VS Pin I get 1.579v and dropping @ standby. when powered on I get .944v and dropping. the 2nd time I rechecked the voltages @ va a capacitor @ C8059 just blew up in my face.

Unplug Y-main and X-main assembly, and then re-test Vs.
The Y-main is the large left hand board, connected to power supply via large cable; X-main is on the right, also connected to power supply via large cable.

                      Phillips 50PFP5332D/37 Screen Issues
                      by GRF
I have researched for what seems forever, apparently not in the right places, for the root cause of the issue shown below. Most screen issues I have found have been half screen top or bottom goes black, not what I am showing.

The display is new, yes old tech but was sold and had a screen issue on set up. From what I have found the boards have different names depending on the manufacturer.

Just looking for thoughts on what would cause the issue shown. It wont be getting put back together, just trying to save what I can from it.

                      Thanks in advance....

Hi, trying to troubleshoot some problems with this laptop I just finished repairing which had power issues (Burnt Buck converter - SY8883DFC shorted to ground).

After repairing the above issue, I realized the following remaining problem,
Sound only comes from bottom speakers, top palmrest speakers don't work. Neither does the headphone jack (static/buzzing).
The computer recognizes headphones are connected and displays a popup in windows
Sometimes, the computer will boot up and the sound will be working fine. However, if I run intensive programs and the computer...

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH - Ideapad 3 well known solder joint issues
                      by Nagyesz
I have a Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15ACH, which has started exhibiting the well-known issues of the Lenovo IdeaPad 3.

All stress tests run perfectly, and there are no performance issues. However, the solder joints are almost certainly starting to fail. If the top two screws on the back are not screwed in, moving the screen results in a BSOD or, in some cases, a slight artifact and freeze. This is a 2023 notebook..

How can I extend its lifespan? Could reflow help?

It has ryzen 5 5500h, rtx 2050, no soldered ram.

                      Example of the artifacts:

                      Clevo PC70DP issues
                      by Rudolfl
                      Hi all
I have one of those machines. Clevo PC70DP.

Machine starts, but turns off quite quick. Just before turning off one can hear fans are spinning at high speed. Can be turned back on again right away.
                      So, feels like overheat problem.
I cleaned up fans and heatsinks and replaced thermal paste. I can now see CPU runs cooler and machine stays on for longer, but still same.

                      Few more findings:
                      1. on-board NVIDIA card is not found. Not showing up in Windows or in BIOS.
                      2. I tried to run CPU stress test. CPU stays at about 65 degrees. Works...
