I wanted to see if there might be something on some scrap boards I have that might work.
I wasn't able to find a data sheet for the original part and I couldn't find a sub with the chips on the scrap boards.
Ordered the original chip number today.

Hi All,
I have been given a 40 year old Technics SU-C04 amplifier that blows fuses.
I desoldered the 4 power transistors and discovered the D718 (PNP) and B688 (NPN) were shorted.
These don't appear to readily available so I'm looking for substitute suggestions. I'd obviously replace all four so they would be matched pairs.
I've attached a picture of the transistors attached to their heatsink. Because of, what appears to be, overspill of heat compound, i'm guessing the transistors are not original.

Okay, I fixed my USB problems discussed in another thread. Now I would like to back up some files. I bought a USB enclosure and a 2 TB SSD (I should have saved $50 and bought one without cache, but I bought the more expensive Samsung EVO 570 instead).
I seem to prefer Linux Mint, although I could probably use Microsoft Backup for Windows 7. I think it still exists. Here's what I did with Mint 18.3 tonight:

My chipquik supply is running low, so I did a little research.
Chipquik melts at 58 Celsius (136 F).

There are a number of alloys not containing cadmium that also have similar melt points. Rose's metal is commonly available on ebay, and at pretty attractive price points. Rose's metal melts between 94 and 98 °C (201 and 208 °F). A bit higher melt point than chip quik though. The higher melt point could be livable if it had better properties, like being able to be cleaned out of closely spaced... -

tl;dr: minimal electronics experience and my first repair, lifted 8 pads off the laptop display LED controller board when attempting a connector replacement, options are attempting pad repair or jump wiring.

I cannot find any information on an sot-23 component. It is on a USB board. The markings are 23AX
There is another sot-23 component next to this one and the markings are 1AM. I have found some information on this one but no information about substitutes
If anyone has any ideas, please tell me.
