Lg 60pv450 colors flashing

this started happening about a week ago
it looks as if its image retention but its not it comes and goes and not just in one area of the screen and seems to be more prominent on colors browns tans etc
Ive got video i can post if needed
you can see it in the pic on the headboard really well
it comes and goes
Thoughts ideas etc greatly appreciated

Another one of these... common fault with the Z-sustain, cold solder joints on ERC inductors. Post a picture of the boards in the set.

could i replace the board instead of soldering it ,so I know the problem is taken care of .
also ,Ill get some pictures soon
Have to take the tv down from where its at (not an easy task)

You could do that, but then it would fail in the same way after a year or so... The soldering wasn't done properly at the factory, so you should correct it.

Ive got the pictures of the board ,Tom could you point out where the bad solder joints on the Z-sustain board,you had mentioned ERC inductors , Ive got someone at work that can reheat them and or solder if needed

See here. Missed your last post. These are the common fault. It's possible though unlikely that the same coil packs under the Y-sustain are bad, too. Post a picture of under here and we can see if the joints are cracked in the same way as other TVs.

I have one of these TVs also that's having problems. I replaced the Zsus board and it worked for about 5 minutes, then a fairly bright flash on the screen and it went out completely. What do you think tom66?

Would try with old Z-sustain to see if you get picture just with the fault showing.

Ok, I re-soldered the coils in both the Zsus & Ysus boards and still nothing. There's another thing that's happening that I'm not sure is normal or not. When I plug it it, there's a click from the power board as if it's trying to come on. I've tried a different power board & main board. Pretty frustrated right now.

So did you try with old Z-sustain or not?

Yes, that was the old Zsus board that I re-soldered. The new Zsus won't do anything.

I read the other posts & saw the one about trying to display a test pattern, so I unplugged the cable and made a connector wire for the 2 holes. Here's what I got along the edges. It alternated colors a few times and then shut down.

Looks like the Z-sustain isn't working properly - that is a lack of Vzbias voltage or Z-sustain drive. I'd try getting that bad Z-sustain exchanged... you probably got a dud part.

tom66, I've got a question. When I look up the Zsus board on various web sites, it gives me a different number (EAX64232101 - EBR73561701) than the original one (EAX62076601-EBR67820001. It looks exactly the same. Do you think I'd be okay using it? Thanks for you help.

Hello guys. Some research with this plasma set has led me to Badcaps and I have the same model as lesjones and wood68. I figured instead of starting a new thread I would jump into this one. Being new to the site, I figured it was a good way to get some posts too. I started having somewhat similar symptoms with this set.

On certain scenes, I'm seeing on purple/or green outline. It's not constant and always depends on what else is on the screen. I did some research on the types of boards inside this set but wanted to see what you guys thought first. I have some soldering experience and basic knowledge of electronics circuitry. I've yet to pop the back cover off. Any guidance would be much appreciated. And by the way, this forum is awesome given the way I like to tinker with things.

I also wanted to add to my last post another symptom that I remembered. In last 2/3 months, the set seems to make a more audible buzzing noise. Its not constant but seemed to crop up when it was colder in the house. Not sure this is related.

I'd check the inductors I indicated previously for cold solder joints, it's appearing to be a common fault on these newer sets.

sorry for not letting everyone know , I took the board off flipped it over and there was cracking and scroch marks due to bad solder ,resoldered and all has been great
