Panasonic TH50PX80U 7 blinks

So I got this Panasonic TH50PX80U for free today from a friend with the 7 blinks and followed the SD/SU/SC elimination and narrowed it down to SD. Amazing got test results laid out just as they are in the pictures in service manual, now I am a automobile mechanic and it is rare to get that, I will take it. I get a Picture and no blinks with SD disconnected. Is there anything else I should look for before replacing SD board, or is there a common failure on the board that I can go after.

yea i cant think of any other tests, i would pull the trigger, take that with a grain of salt though, i have only repaired one plasma and 2 LCDs and waiting for parts on 2 more LCDs

A common issue on these sets, replacing SD should sort it right out, and then you can enjoy a nice big plasma.

Ordered one from a TV store used, cheap 11.00 included shipping. Will let you know this weekend how it turns out.

Parts for these are quite cheap - many of them die only because people smash them. Usually everything still works until the Wii controller hits it...

Yes that is correct. I jumped on it Hope its good most are averaging around 35-40 used with out shipping.

Where did u unplug the ad from, any reset needed after I unplug sd board

No reset needed.
SD board has some screws and connectors going to the SC, and to the panel. Be extremely careful with the connectors going to the panel, they cannot be replaced.

So unplug sd from sc and see if it will start up. I had red this I had one
In my shop for three months but didn't try this . I thought it meant
Unplug sd card reader board from main board. Can't wait to try this.

Yes, also try with SU, though you might not get half a picture with SU out.

Yes All I did was disconnect from SU ( 20 pin at connection SU11/SD11unplugged flat ribbon cable) then disconnect from SC (unplugged flexible hard wire SD42/SC42) Ran the jumper ground wire from circuit L801 to one of the floating ground bolt holes and it turned on. This works for SU test also.

Installed my 11.00 used card and TV looks great, been on for 3 hours now.
