    Panasonic TC-P46S1 10 Blinks

Hey guys, new here... I have a TC-P46S1 and have become yet another victim of the 10 blinks. Anyhow, I've done a little searching and trouble shooting already. So here is where I'm at:

    1. Watching TV and the it goes black the other day with 10 blinks.
    2. Tried the reset by holding the button for 10-20 secs, light stays solid for a little while but goes back to blinking. TV didn't come back on at all.
    3. Unplugged SC2 and SC20 and now have 6 blinks.
    4. Also checked the fuses on the P-Board F352, F501, F601, F602 and F603 and were fine but couldn't find F201.

I'm not sure where to go now.
    Any help would be appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Brian

I'd suspect bad SC board but this is from the 2009 troubleshooting guide. Could be almost any board but disconnecting the Sc and getting 6 seems like it may be Sc but i'd follow this flowchart.

Finding an Sc could be difficult.

Which guide did that flow chart come from?

Thanks! If it is indeed an SC board, I found a trade in thing on ebay where you send yours in and they send you a rebuilt one. Are those reliable or sketchy?

No idea, check feedback i guess. Someone may have tried them here but you'd have to try a search maybe on the PCB number. Could be other places that do it but that would be local knowledge. hopefully someone else may have some info.

well the $139 has 100% and seems to be selling quite a few which is no surprise since they're hard to find.

I think I'm going to do that after I confirm a bad SC board. If it is a bad SC board, does that mean something in the P board is causing a bad SC board?

                    Re: Panasonic TC-P46S1 10 Blinks

You'd have to follow the flowchart first to determine . Sc board failure is a fairly common fault. there's been plenty who have replaced the PSU for no reason but 2 & 10 blink on the generation before yours had PSU issues with a couple of modules.

Always good practice to check the buffer boards too before installing a replacement SC board just in case. If you can find that guide, should be some tests in there.

If the 10 blink was coming from the PSu it would be still there with the Sc disconnected, so i expect the PSu would be fine but you can always check the voltages from it.

I found that guide!!! Thanks! I had the technical guide for the TC-P46S1 but it was a little vague...

I also found this piece laying around. Not sure where it came from or if it's even from my TV...

Can't make it out, need a close up, not something I'm recognising from that distance.

I followed that flowchart and looks like the SC board and not the SS or A so I did the swap thing on ebay and shipped it out today.

                            Here's another pic.

might have been some kind of suppport but I have not come across it.

                              How were the buffers?

Didn't realize you posted something else! Hope you had a great Christmas! SC board came in today and fixing to install it. I didn't see any physical anomalies on the buffer chips... The cheap multimeter I have doesn't beep so testing the continuity cam be tedious. So I'm hoping that the buffers are fine. If I still have a problem after I install the SC board then I'll have to go get a better multimeter.
I didn't pull the heatsinks off but looked on the backside and no burnt spots or anything out of the ordinary...

                                  Cheers, and to you too.

Real risky, if there happens to be a short on the input side. Can blow the SC.

Rarely can you tell doing a visual, resistance checking is the safest way.

Should be in the guide. Maybe you know someone with a decent meter.

Anyway lets hope you have no dramas.

Ha, That's always good to here. i get very nervous when the buffers are not checked only because I've fallen for that and blown a board. Not so bad when you could get one for $50-60 bucks but now $150 or thereabouts.

Good to see there's someone repairing these SCs and doing a good job.

I have the next series 2010 model, same deal SC boards blow , but I've been lucky enough to work out how to repair those ones.

How did the repaired board look? was it real professional like?
