Yesterday, I opened up a TDE Systems EA3854 DVD player. Not only the capacitors in the supply were bad, the capacitors on the supply rails of the logic board failed when the capacitors in the power supply failed.
And to make matters worse, the failing power supply also destroyed the logic board as well.
There is evidence of overvoltage from two burnt out load resistors and one inductor on the secondary of the supply, which meant regulation of all other rails failed when the capacitors on the +5V rail failed.
The capacitors were branded "Jd" and Unite.
