i recently replaced ic chips on the psu board
i read a post about this problem
but i still get clicking noise
click turn on and nothing
no picture or sound
no red light for standby
nothing
does anyone have a clue
ic chips replaced

ic str-z4479
ic str-w6765
ic srx-2039

i changed these but nothing different

Pictures of the boards and layout?
Have you taken any voltage measurements to confirm if the PSU is working?

i switch it on and dont get any standby light
will any of the caps need replacing on main psu board or is there any other common faults
that would narrow it down

Have you got any 5V standby output? Before even considering the main board as being at fault, make sure that it gives a solid standby output.

where is the 5v standby output located on the main board and do i check at the ir sensor board to see if there is 5v to the board for the light

I don't know but I do remember that these Toshiba power supplies have labelled outputs. I would check at the power board for now.

Yeah there are full schematics for the power board but you need to install Toshiba ZEUS. It is freely available on Elektrotanya but a right pain in the arse to get working.

ive had a look and have found that the SMPS IC Q880 mabe the problem
i can see from the photos where it says (q880) but can seem to work out if it the ic chip on the other sider or a mosfet

i have found that its the ic strw6765(q880) that i replaced first and have re-soldered and fergot to ad paste/i have pasted and soldered 3 pins together as from your photo i will try it again now

still the same unless the ic strw6765(q880) is faulty or needs a different one

As you can see in my pictures and my link, I test the power supply board by itself using resistors, when I power it, the 12V was clicking due to IC Q880. I would power up the board by itself and find out if the the voltages are OK, verify the PFC voltage is also OK or not.

So you did not have to replace it, luckily it was not damaged due to solder bridge. Glad to hear it is working.

one of the pins that was soldered was broken so i re soldered it lower for the contact to work on the board
fully working now

Hi Futurespec,

Please advise. I have a 42wlt66 and just this week it started to making clicking sound for a long time. Eventually after 5 mins it does stop and turn on.

What did you replace on yours?

Which IC chips me and where did you buy them from.
