On the main board, on U21 ldr, the output and input are .619volts. pretty sure its the problem, but what should i check next and values am i looking for? These vizios usually have a ldr issue, never had to explore beyond them. thanks

Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
Did you check all of the LDR's? The best start would be to list all of them in this manner.
U7
1117
Pin 1 = 5.0V
Pin 2 = 1.5V
Pin 3 = 0.25V -
Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
yes i checked them all. the only one that wasnt reading normal was the u21. amc1117, leg 1=0volts, 2=.619volts, 3=2.5volts. so maybe the cap is bad not suppling the right volts?Comment

Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
What is written on the body of the U21, just 1117 and no other number, any pictures of the board that shows the closed up pictures of this U21? If it just has 1117, then it is an adjustable Vreg, the voltage between pin 1 and pin 2 will always be the Vref of 1.25V +/- 2%. It has 2.5V Vin, so the output should be 1.25V out. It can have very heavy load that is pulling down the out put or bad input/output filter caps. The 1117 drop out voltage is around 1.2V (the diff voltage between the input and output), so it is running real close to the drop off point.Last edited by budm; 10-11-2013, 02:43 PM.Never stop learning

OK, the output of U17 is fed into the input pin of U21. Please verify by checking the resistance between pin 3 of u21 and pin 2 of u17. If U17 is not the one, we need to find out what the input pin of U21 is connected to which one of the regulator output pin.
We need the voltage readings of all the regulators.Last edited by budm; 10-11-2013, 03:57 PM.Never stop learning

OK, see post 2

Look like you do have bad U21. Its input may be fed by the output of U19.Last edited by budm; 10-11-2013, 04:25 PM.Never stop learning

Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
Correct budm, u19 V.out to pin 3 of U21 is .8ohms. U19 output is 2.5volts, U21 input is 2.5volts but the output is .619volts. so that lil guy is bad for sureComment

Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
when ordering the new amc117, not finding the original anywhere. so as long as its a 2.5v amc1117 would be good?Comment

Re: VIZIO VW32LHDTV20A Video issue
You need to get 1117 adjustable regulator. See post7 for listing from digikey.
https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...999#post300999
You need 1.25V output not 2.5V. The output will be 1.25V when ADJ pin is grounded.

by NicktronicHey everybody, got a strange one here.
The TV will display the Home Screen, Menus, Netflix Home Screen, YouTube home screen with preview tiles, etc, without issue. As soon as I try to play video (streaming or from any of the HDMI inputs), all I get is audio and and blank screen. It's like the video is not being processed. So I ordered a replacement main board. I can now play video from streaming sources but the video from HDMI sources is all green (kinda like photo negatives but all green) and the audio does not work. Is it possible the main board I ordered is also failing?? I can't... -
Vizio e601i-A3 - Has Sound and Display, But No Backlight - Bad Power Supply Board or Bad LED Bulbs ?by Tynan DillI was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.
Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.
I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.
The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.
With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

by MectronikHello, I'm working on a Vizio m601d-a3 with a backlight issue that I am having a difficulty diagnosing it. As it sits, the tv powers on, displays the Vizio symbol and with nothing hooked up it will then display no signal but you can only see half of the screen. I know it's a back light issue because the picture is there without light behind it, as I can see it by doing a light test. I've taken off the paneling and done a visual inspection. If I disconnect the tcon ribbon cable to the affected side then the entire half of the screen goes away. I've checked voltages at the LED driver from the main...

by remmurdmdHi everyone. First new thread here. I picked up a TV on the side of the road. It appears to function correctly with the exception of an image issue I'm unable to describe. I've searched for “double picture” and “double image” all over the web and all I get is repair videos for when the picture is blurry and the connections are getting interference between the display panels and the t-con board. I believe this is a t-con board issue, but I haven't found anything telling me conclusively that this is where my issue is. I'd appreciate any assistance you can provide. I live a pretty busy life...
