Depends on the diode - outer two pins can be connected together on some designs. Part # of diodes?

        right tom pictures as requested

tom this board is a YPSU-J014A REV 2.5

I HAVE A SMALL IDEA DUNNO IF YOU WILL AGREE OR NOT
I HAVE A WORKING PSU OUT OF THAT 42PX5D

CAN I WIRE THAT UP SO ALL CONNECTIONS ARE WIRED THE SAME WILL IT WORK

BECASU IN THEORY VS IS VS AND VA IS VA ETC

Well, if and only if all the connections are identical.

I don't think they have same connectors but I can fathom al that out so the right connections go to the right connections#

anyways have the pictures helped mate I would like to try and repair this board tbh

Part # on the "shorted" diode?

tom all thee parts show continuity

                theres a mosfet marked
                D612 ,D614

                THEN THERES
                DIODES
                D151
                D804

                RESISTORS
                R153
                R154
                R157
                R802
                R806
                R861

THEN THERES A BIG DIODE LOOKING TYPE

                MARKED EL63

Part # as written on the device not the board.

tom can I not just remove the parts to find out if there shorted esp the diodes
parts are tiny so hard to get numbers

the mosfet type one d612,d614 is s20lc60us

Re: lg 42pt85 no power standby lights up

You can, but it's a lot more work than using a bright light and magnifying glass to read them. Or the macro mode on a camera + flash.

Those are probably TO220 type, not MOSFETs but in same package.

You can see internal circuit, pins 1 and 3 are different diodes. On the board they will probably be joined together.

                        that's what I thought tom

so what about removing just those 2 diodes and testing them off board they should not be shorted off the board

this power board was replaced for a working one andnow tv wont fire up unless y main connector is disconnected then the standby light goes green and hard drive spins into lifeand tv stays on
but the thing is the xmain gets its power from the ymain ive checked fuses on both x and y any ideas

Check from Vs to GND on Z-sus and Y-sus.

Resistance check - 200 ohm range or so. Readings around 0 ohms are bad.

so red in on vs and black on ground and meter on 200 ohms
do I test this on psu or the yboard or does it not matter

You want to test on each of the suspect boards - Y-sus and Z-sus.

right tom jesus just removed x z board and the big black coil has burn marks underneath and on the pad it sits on
I disconnected the x from the y but I don't think the model will fire without both connected

going to have to replace this board before I can do anything mate
