    Image Issues with Dynex DX-L42-10A

Alright, so I have a Dynex DX-L42-10A. It's been loyal and had no troubles throughout the few years we've been together. I moved about a week ago and two days ago after spending the time getting all my components and wires hooked up and organized I decided to watch a movie. About 25 minutes in, the screen starts flashing white every few seconds. I look down at my phone then look back up and the screen is almost completely white with a negative effect on the image you can see. The sound didn't change at all, just the picture.

I tried doing a reset through the menu (which also presents as negative or whatever effect you would call this), no change.

I did some searching online and decided to see what I could figure out on my own since I don't have the funds to purchase a new tv, plus if I can fix it I'd rather do that (save the money, solve the puzzle, woot).

Soooooo any advice?? Where do I start? I've never tried to fix anything quite like this before, so I have no idea what I'm doing.

    Your help is much appreciated!

Does it do it on the menu as well? Or just on the input.

Have you opened it and looked for any visibly bulged capacitors, loose connections, or obviously burned components?

Yes, it does do it on the menu as well.

I did open it up about an hour ago and nothing looks obviously wrong. The connection points all look clean and intact, the capacitors all look fine. To me...

For some reason the website keeps telling me server error, but i did manage to get this one uploaded. I've got 3 more I'll keep trying, but here's this one of the image itself:

Look at the top left SQ IC under the thermal pad to see if it is AIS15 Gamma ref voltage IC.

There is an IC on the top left of the board that may have P/N ASI15x printed on the top, you need to look, if it is, you need to replace the SMD IC or replace the T-CON board to fix the problem.

Alright, so if I order a t-con board, what're the chances that this issue will resolve??

I just don't want to shuck out money for parts and end up not being able to fix it...

You are going to have to put in new T-CON board to find out, there is no 100% to verify the problem or you can take to the TV shop to get the 2nd opinion. So did you look at the IC number as request?

Visually the board looks very similar to a Samsung i had a similar problem with myself:

                        https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showth...d=1#post351636

Part numbers are NOT the same but i would hazard a guess and say that the symptoms are almost exactly the same as mine - Which was had a faulty ASI15x Chip on the T-Con Board.

Take a look underneath the small square foam pad (to the top left of the picture) and see if it reads ASI15 or something similar. If so, then i would suggest replacing the T-Con board. Make sure you have a thermal pad (one of those foam looking pads) on the replacement board too or it will go bad very quickly!

                        Good luck,
                        Demon

                            #1) I'm a her, not a him.
#2) demonBG was much clearer in directions, especially considering I've already said I have never done anything with electronics in the past before. If this were a car itd be fixed already, but I am out of my element here...
#3) I just started a new job and moved, so i literally spent the weekend unpacking and have been getting home and sleeping and then leaving again during the week, so I haven't had much of a chance to sit and fiddle with this tv.

                            Anyways...back to business.

I am not seeing "ASI15" but the board does look just like the image of yours, Demon. Your images also look just like mine did. It started fine, then took on the negative effect, then gets really white. Now it doesn't display correctly at all, just goes straight to the negative.

Does that seem similar to the way yours ended up? If so, I'm thinking I'll give the tcon board a go and hope for the best.

Can you post the board number? I cant seem to read all the numbers off the picture. I may have one in the parts pile from a 40" model with a broken screen.
