    Samsung lcd le40a866 vertical lines

I have problem with 3-4 year old samsung lcd. You can see it on attached picture. Vertical lines are not always on same place, they follow text, subtitles,...
I read about it, and some people said that it dissapear when TV is warmed up.

So i used hair dryer and warmed up boards and TV works ok till next day.
Then i made reflow on bga chips on main board, but same result, it worked but when cooled it doesnt.

I read a lot similar threads, but didnt found solution.

Does anyone have suggestion what to do?

      Probably tab bonds (panel defect)
      Different symptom same cause

Re: Samsung lcd le40a866 vertical lines

thanks for answer tom66, but i'm pretty sure that it's not problem with bonds.
First, like i said when i warmed TV or only mainboard, without touching tab bonds, its temporary fixed.
Second, i tried with pressing on tab bonds but nothing changed

        thanks anyway

Did you reflow BGA on main board or t-con? Main board cannot cause this symptom. We have found t-con replacement doesn't fix this problem either, at least in the few cases on this forum.

Re: Samsung lcd le40a866 vertical lines

i reflow bga on mainboard, and i did it one more time today, but now without success.
i turned it on and off couple times and sometimes i have problems like on pics, and sometimes everything is ok. damn

could it be power board problem... ?

            i'm really confused

I think it's more likely the heat you are applying to the main board is heating something else up, the panel. Try applying light (<50C) heat to the panel tabs.

I have something similar going on with that Samsung 40 inch LCD don't remember the model number but its a 2008 model. anyway I have vertical streaking going on the left side of the screen with the artifacts that are on the screen so I started tearing into it tab bonds make no effect and so I went ahead and started hitting itwith freeze spray first with the screen no effect then with the t-con board and no effect so then I lastly tried the mainboard on the top side where the lvds exits and all the sudden the problem went away but then came right back about 30 seconds later it looks like maybe t-con board was absorbing the freeze spray and I went ahead and started spraying the mainboard the problem went away and then came back so on my symptoms I'm under the anticipation that the t-con board is bad I may just go ahead and order one and see what happens
Did I leave the soldering iron on?

I have a Samsung LE40A656 with the same symptoms. Vertical lining, not fixed but moving with the brighter parts of the image like subtitles and channel logos.
It's on all sources and tv menu's. Not the β€˜hmdi x no signal' though.

It was just there one day, over the entire screen, not just one side. That would point in the direction of tcon right? Tab bonds would mean the lines are fixed or at least at one side of the screen? Don't see any burning or bad caps on the boards, and it's always there heated or not.

                        Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                        by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                        Samsung UN46C8000XFXZA vertical bars/horizontal lines
                        by x_orange90_x
I posted about this previously but didn't get any response, and I have some troubleshooted a bit so I have more info.

The screen is full of horizontal "gaps" or lines that distort the picture badly, and after about 10 seconds of powering it on the screen starts to fill with red vertical bars that take on the horizontal pattern. After the screen filled with the red bars, they instantly vanished and then slowly started to reappear. I initially thought it was tab bonding failure, but after getting down to them and pressing each one I find zero change in the picture. I went...

Thin stable coloured vertical lines on Samsung UN65NU6900FXZC come and go
                        by polaro
                        Greetings,

I've bought a used Samsung UN65NU6900FXZC LED TV. It worked fine for some time and then developed, at first, a single very thin (1 pixel) vertical stable blue line, from top to bottom, close to the left edge of the screen. Now it's 3 lines on the left. When I connect HDMI sources the number of the thin lines grow. After disconnecting and cold discharging I am back to 2 lines. The lines disappear at a rate of 15-20 minutes per line. So it does not look like a damaged LED panel. Any advice? Thanks...

Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 - Pink vertical lines due to chipped LCD panel?
                        by Anonmis
Hello all, I was recently repairing my Samsung 55" UN55JS9000 tv from the common burnt backlight LED's and cracked light guide panel issue. After replacing the LED's and putting the TV back together, I tested the tv and all I was getting was sound but no image. Somewhere along the way (could be related to the next issue) the T-Con board became damaged and after replacing it I have made a little bit of progress but now have bright pink vertical lines and still no image.

The bigger issue .... I took the TV apart again and realized that I likely didn't sit the LCD panel correctly...
