Samsung 32in LN32B360C5DUZA no power no standby

Hi. I have a 32in Samsung model LN32B360C5DUZA that one would not turn on. The red standby light is not light and nothing is happening when I press any of the buttons on the TV or the remote.

My problem appears to be the same as mootink's in this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=21742 but as far as I can tell the diodes that mootink found shorted are fine on my board.

Also the service bulletin that budm mentioned does not seem to be affecting my board as diode DP805 has different numbers on it (as best I can see with desoldering it).

My power board model number is the same as mootink's hv32hd_9ss bn44-00289B

One of the questions budm ask mootink was what theh voltage was on CP815, on mine its reading 157Vdc. Below are so other readings that I took of various components. NOTE: all these reading were taken in circuit.

Fuses: FS801s and FM802S tested OK.

Bridge Rectifier: Positive .516 and .510
    Negative .517 and .510

Transistors: Sorry I don't which reading is from collector versus the emitter open when leads were reversed
QP802s .458 and .446 open when leads were reversed
QI820 .415 and .555 one reversal open the other had a reading, also .980 between collector and emitter
QI821 .415 and .554 one reversal open the other had a reading, also .980 between collector and emitter
    QB801 .610 and .611

Diodes: They all went open when leads were reversed
    DM803 .532
    ZD803 .649
    ZD804 .379
    DM852 .437
    ZM804 .595
    DM802 .512
    DM801 .445
    DP810 .501
    DP804 .498
    DP805 .399
    ZM801 .613

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. I am a novice with electronics and soldering so I will probably need more hand holding the others.

Sorry for the delay I was finally able to re-do the voltage readings. I read them using a chassis ground and a pin ground and get the same readings both ways. I needed to remove the ribbon cable in order to read this since the probes are to thick to fit down into the connector on the ribbon.

I am pretty novice in this area, I believe the reading I have are in volts. I have Klein MM200 auto-ranging multi-meter so can only select to read voltage and then I switched into DC mode. There is a small "m" after the numbers a space and then the "V". I'm not really sure what the "m" means here.

    Pin
    1- Pwr - on/off : 0v
    2- Stby 5.3v : 0v
    3 - gnd
    4 - 13v(s) : -3.9v
    5 - gnd
    6 - gnd
    7 - : 0v
    8 - : 0v
    9 - gnd
    10 - 13v(M): -3.9v
    11 - 13v(M) : -3.9v
    12 - Inverter on/off : 0v
    13 - E-Pwm : 0v
    14 - Det_5v : 0v
15 - Sync : this one just keeps climbing it was over 140v when I stopped
    16 - gnd

So please if somebody to help me figure out where my problem is or tell me what to check next.

    Thanks

      Hello there!

I opened up an account just to reply to you! There's a 12k 5W resistor I had to replace that was shorted. That among a few other things, like the FDPF5N50UT transistor pair. Those were also shorted. I haven't popped the new ones in yet, but that seems to be MY problem.

shorted resistor, thats extremely rare. I have never seen one myself.

I would agree, more likely open.

To the (long gone) original poster, the "m" on your multimeter indicates "millivolt", i.e. the -3.9mV is -0.0039V.

I would agree also, if you look at the construction of the resistor, it will be difficult to have shorted circuit between both end of the body.
