    Magnavox 47mf power supply issues

I own a magnavox 47mf series television. It attempts to power on but fails to do so and a chirping is heard. Green light on the front as if the tv thinks it is on.

I ordered a kit off the Internet for the power supply. It came with 5 caps, but I am concerned it is not a complete kit. I would like to fix any known issues as I go if possible. What all should be replaced on this board to avoid a tear down in the near future?

Do a search for the whole model number here. These sets have been fixed. You should find all the info that you need.

I did, not sure if I stink at searching, but all I could find with a final solution for the chirping symptom is the 37mf. Thanks for the reply.

I am back to this, I know it sucks helping guys like me who know nothing, but I appriciate what you have. I ordered the kit from here http://lcdalternatives.com/MAGNAVOX-...-P2372151.aspx

It replaced 6 caps but there are more on the board. The 3 large ones were definitely budged but the other 3 looked ok. I am back to the same problem after the new caps. Any suggestions where to go next?

Couple pix. I tried unhooking all the leads to the power supply and turning it on, but found out the switch goes through what I think is the tuner board part number dlh715t2303-3 photo attached. So i couldn't disconnect it and power up. so i looked at it. On that board I found 1 budged cap and one broken open. I figure that can't be helping things. So I guess I should replace those next as they are either bad or going bad.

I tried testing some of the caps that we pulled out with my ohm meter but the just flash a value the goes back like it doesn't have a connection.

Also attached is a pic of the power supply. Neither has any burn marks on them.

first of all some of those large capacitors may not be bulged. They dome from heat because their plastic topped. second of all this model iswell known for V scan failures because the buffer chips overheat and are known to take out the power supply vscan circuit which will in turn shut down the power supply and it will go into error mode. What you need to do is do resistance check between ground and V scan on the Y sustain board. If its shorted you need to fix that first and then check for a shorted MOSFET and zener diode on the power supply that feeds the VScan circuit

Did I leave the soldering iron on?

did you take it to be recycled? you should of checked zd902 and zd904 those go bad. they went bad on one i fixed they are right next to the 1 transformer by the 3 caps you probably replaced that were bulged.
