Samsung LE40r87BD, backlight working but no picture

    Hi!

I'm trying to repair a Samsung LCD-TV LE40R87BD and have run out of skill. The backlight and sound is working which leads me to believe it's either the t-con board or the lcd panel. When i power on the tv the little red led blinks for a few seconds before the set comes on but i don't know if that's normal since i haven't seen the tv in working order.

The IC located just up and to the left of the sticker on the t-con board looked a little burnt on the backside of the card, but i don't know how to check if its damaged. I have also checked the fuse (FP1) on the t-con and it's working.

I have tried to unplug the ribbon cables one at a time and both but the display did not change. Isn't the screen supposed to go white when the t-con is disconnected? Is there a way to check if the lcd-panel i defective?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

What voltage do you see on each end of fuse FP1?

The red light blinking is the normal startup.

Voltage on FP1 is 13,7V both ends

OK, on the bottom left of the t-con board, there is a bunch of capacitors labelled CD04, CD06, CD05... etc

          Do you see these?

Can you test the voltage across them?

CD01-08 all have 13,7V on the upper side, 0V at the bottom.

CD33-35 have 3,35V at top, 0V at bottom.

            Thanks for the quick replies!

OK, that is not right at all, there should be around 15V there. The low voltage there will cause VGGON and VGGOFF to go missing too, they are generated off the 15V usually. I would suggest a defective t-con board is at fault here.

Ok, I feel more confident ordering a new t-con board now since it's not behaving properly.

Thanks a lot for your help!

I finally got around to replacing the t-con board but it made no difference, same symptoms as before. Any other ideas on what might be the problem?

I checked the capacitors CD04-08 and now they have 15V.

By the way, where do you find info on this kind of stuff?

                        Experience.

Well, your old T-con was bad, and your new T-con is now working... so, I can only suspect that either the main board or panel is bad unless you have got a partially functional T-con.

Can you try unplugging one side of the LCD panel ribbons, there are two one for left half and one for right half.

I unplugged the left one and the left side of the screen went white and vice versa.
I guess this means something went wrong with the main board and killed the t-con in the process?

Samsung TV model UE50TU: rebooting, backlight, sound, but no picture
                            by TR103
                            Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                            - sound and backlight, but no picture
                            - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                            - it keeps rebooting
                            - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                            - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                            - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                            - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...

SAMSUNG UN55KS9000F picture fades then distorts into vertical lines after 20 seconds
                            by JJAAMM
This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                            Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING - M.2_2 port not working correctly with SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD
                            by DynaxSC
                            Hi,

I have an really very weired issue with ASUS ROG STRIX B550-I GAMING.

Some NVME (PCIe) SSD's are not working correctly in the second M.2 socket. An example of it is the SAMSUNG SSD980 1TB NVME SSD.
Some other NVME (I have only smaller ones) disk do work without any problem, also SAMSUNG disks, eg an MZVPV128HDGM-0000.

The behaviour is also really very strange, i.e.:
                            • The disk shows always up in BIOS - so it is recognized, so far so good
                            • POST-ing with this disk with fresh Windows 24H2 installation (done in the M.2_1 socket) in the M.2_2 socket
                            ...

Samsung LCD TV no picture backlight on no 12v at tcon
                            by shelby5041
                            hi
i have a samsung lcd tv

it powers on with sound and backlight but no picture

all voltages from PS are good 12v 3.3v and 5v

whats odd is that at the tcon i tested voltage across the fuse on the tcon and i get 0v

i figured main board issue..so i ordered a used main board....when i put replacement main board in i still have same issue

no 12v at the tcon fuse

i disconnect the panel ribbon cables to rule out any panel issues and i still have no 12v at the tcon fuse

                            the odds of having 2...

I have a Samsung UN58TU7000FXZC (same as UN58TU7000FXZA, just the Canadian model) with no picture. Backlight is on and sound is coming out just fine. Just no picture.

What is frustrating is that there's no voltage test point and no component labelling of any kind.

What I have found so far:
                            1. No voltage at pins 91-94 of the 96 pins connector CN1300 (marked 1 on the picture). This TV set has no T-CON board. The 96 pin flex cable goes directly to the right (when facing TV) lower panel board. Itself is linked with another flex to the other side.
                            2. Voltage...
