Exact model 55st50. When I replaced ss board in first place 8 blinks never stopped, so that's when I replaced A board. After I replaced A boarding was like, hmmm, what if replaced ss board was junk, so I went back to my original ss board. All same, no blinks now, just solid red light with no picture. Will make pictures tomorrow. Both of the replaced boards I got from eBay, different sellers, both claimed boards came from working tv

Exact model of TV and full view hi res photos of original A board and the new one so we can check if they are the same revision boards.

Do you have a multimeter? Always a chance replacement SS board was dud. Where did you get that?

I just did my panasonic TC-P50UT50 8 blinks problem.
Ordered kit off ebay for $25.00 'Valley tv service' alumbra Ca.
The ss board looked messed up from heat - all over.
Started to remove components and messed up some of the circuit board. The solder was very hard to remove. The resistor is very hard to do since so tiny. I removed heat sink and transistor and diode first to get to smd resistor. Started last night took 5 hours - prayed a lot but watching NFL on it this morning. Beautiful picture. Thanks everyone.

Tried this repair with the kit, worked for an hour and fifteen minutes then died again. Has anyone bought the replacement board and had success? The kit didn't seem to do it for me.

Yes, devices were secured to heatsink with thermal paste. Gate driver is SMD SOIC. I used my Hot Air Rework workstation to ensure ground pad was appropriately soldered to the board.
The heatsink for the two devices was hot enough to sizzle the moisture on my finger. So devices were overdriven or heatsink is undersized.
Not sure how to test driver chip.
If a Fluke gave 6.1 and the tips and pads were clean , I'd consider replacing that resistor. My fluke (73) has a test lead resistance of 0.2 and those 5.6 resistors on a board I have(not the same board) read 5.7 and I've tried several .

It's a metal film 5.6 OHM, 1/3W 5%. At 6.1 it's at 7.14%(depending on your leads) I'd find another 5.6 on that board or the SC and compare but it may be partially damaged and under use and heat the resistance may be unstable.

Also, did you use thermal paste and properly secure devices to the heatsink? My guess would be bad driver IC too.

Based on scorch marks, service manual flowchart, the great info on this forum and a technical bulletin (TB-13-02) from Panasonic, all suspicion fell to a defective SS board, specifically: Q051, D041 and R051.
The gate resistor (R051) teseted fine, however, the diode and IGBT were shorted.
These parts were replaced using the ShopJimmy repair kit, including sanding the scorch marks and installing the better mounting screws. To ensure good electrical contact, I also refreshed the solder around the screw mounting holes where the bottom of the SS board contacts the metal frame. As the screws form part of the circuit return path, (such a poor design choice!) the screws were torqued down nice and tight.
The repair worked great! For about 10 minutes!
The power relay clicked open, and set presented the annoying 8 blinks. As the rear case was open, I noticed the D041/Q051 heatsink was extremely hot. Analysis shows D041 and Q051 again shorted. Vsus measured about 210v+_. So I don't suspect the power supply. While it worked, picture was great.
Ideas on this are welcome and appreciated before I replace the SS board. Thanks.
Not sure but i think i've read some have had to replace the driver IC as well. So the resistor read correct value ?

But after searching through different Panasonic service manual, it seems like issue is with specific Transistor on SS Board. Most likely Q16051 which is most commonly used IGBT in Panasonic Plasma. Attached is the Panasonic Technical Bulletin and the exact part u can order.

I attempted the repair. Before it, the TV would shut off into 8 blink mode after around 5 minutes. Now it lasts about an hour before doing the same thing.

This was the state of the SS board:

Does it look like it's worth replacing with a new one?

I really want to get this TV to work again. IMO LED is not good enough to replace plasma yet.

8 blink error after 30-45 minutes of being on.

Top screw on SS board was not tight, I can see arcing marks between the SS board and metal chassis. Why wouldn't Panasonic tighten that particular screw, the others were tight.

I was then watching my TiVo through its HD Component inputs until I could maybe get this repaired. Recently, I got the 8 blinks of death too and was not happy that it has already totally failed. I did not get the extended warranty either.

I figured I had nothing to lose before I took it to a local repair shop so I called Panasonic up as an unhappy customer. I explained the situation and how I was not real pleased that two components on this TV failed within 2yrs of getting it. I have a Sony that is 3 yrs old with not a single problem and would consider Sony for my next HDTV purchase.

Long story short....Panasonic gave me a case number and told me to take it to a local designated shop for repair (about 30mins away). Along with my receipt from best Buy, Panasonic will now cover most of the parts cost for both of these issues. It will only cost me about $150 in labor charges.

I personally do not like getting extended warranties and realize they are gambles no matter how you look at it. I also figure I am still coming out ahead here as the GeekSquad warranty at the time was $200 for 2yrs.

In case anyone else has this issue, you may want to try something similar. Can't hurt and only will require your time to make the phone call.
    Was the tv successfully repaired?

Did they give you a list of what parts they replaced and or any other work completed?

    ....

Great input in this forum. Currently doing my homework to hopefully resolve this same 8 blink (due to lightning through the hdmi input from cable box), on a different model Panasonic (TC-P65GT30). This has been the most informative forum I have come across thus far, much appreciated to all who have posted here.

    Thanks,
    Dan

Spratt22 did you clean arcing marks on board and frame and replace screws with lock washers? Just wondering cause I just repaired one for a neighbor and the kit I got came with new screws.

Panasonic TC-P55ST50 8 blinks then no blinks

Hello! yes I know there is already lots of information about this issue. I have a Panasonic TC-P55ST50 that originally displayed an 8-blink error code. Following the troubleshooting flowchart, I ended up replacing the SS board. However, even after replacing it, the issue persists. The TV turns on and stays on without displaying an image, and continuity is confirmed on all connectors. What am I missing here🤔?
Ok Im a mechanical engineer ...but I thought I was able to follow a rather simple flowchart for electric troubleshooting 😂.

Panasonic P58V11B 8 and 12 blinks error "fix"
    by Biruslapio
Bought this TV used not working, panel flashed briefly on power up and it was blinking 8 times, a quick look on SS board revealed a common fault on the 3uF 250V capacitors, C201 to C205 (C1620X in the service manual), the solder joints were all cracked, C201 and C205 pins were darkened and some sparking had occurred on them, C201 was split open and clearly overheated in its last hours, replaced that one and resoldered the others, 8 blinks fixed.

Also the previous owner broke the antenna connector by taking the TV out of the wall mount forgetting to unplug it, I desoldered the tuner...

Panasonic AG-1000B VHS player with bad picture quality
    by FZG
    Hello!

I recently got an old VHS player from Panasonic and just for fun I want to try to repair this device. It is an AG-1000B portable VHS player from 1990 and it has a problem with picture quality in playback mode.

Picture in playback mode is very noisy and often loses sync but the still images are nearly perfect.

I want to know, is this something that could be solved by recapping or is the video head likely gone?

    Also, what mechanism is this?

    Any feedback is appreciated!...

Panasonic TH-65FX800A backlight LED's working but picture is very dark
    by Bazfletch3
    Hi all

While I have quite a decent background in electrical & electronic troubleshooting & repairs, this is my first time stripping down an LCD TV for repair.... I have inherited a 3yr old Panasonic LCD which has a picture, but it is quite dark (too dark to be watchable - but still quite easy to see; I didnt need a torch to see it).

I started by checking and trying to adjust all of the picture and backlighting levels, but that made little to no difference. I also did a factory reset.

From there I envisaged that the backlighting wasn't working, however...

Samsung UN60F8000BFXZA ~ No Picture or Sound - 5 Res Light Blinks
    by kca
    Hello all ~

I’m working on this Samsung 60” LED and purchased a new main board a couple of days ago that did not fix the 5 blink issue. The original main board’s HDMI ports (all 4 of them) failed to work and no amount of reflow remedied that.

This 5 red light blink code on the front panel LED is followed (about 15-20 seconds afterward) by an automatic reboot, and results in 5 more red light blinks. Then the entire cycle repeats itself indefinitely.

    No picture. No sound.

I tested all the voltages coming out of the power supply...
