    Hitachi p60x901 Power supply

I picked up a Hitachi P60x901 Plasma tv, upon initial diagnosis I found the lower sdr board had 4 ic's with pin holes. Ordered the new very rare sdr board, and finally received it this week. Installed. Powered up the unit, get 2-clicks as should, fans kick on, then everything drops out. There blue power light li blinking 2 times, which according to the manual is a xsus prob. But I went ahead and measured the va 12.01v, should be 177v. Vs should be 64v, but is reading as 6 mv. I assume power supply is bad. What should I check first?

4th large capacitor down, on the right side of the image looks like it might be bulging slightly.

Va should not be 177V..... 64V is more realistic for Va but 177V for Vs on these would be rare due to the TERES drive which requires halve the typical Vs so around 80 to 85V.

Yea sorry Im dislexic sometimes. The va should be 68.2, vs 177.7. The fourth cap down on right is slightly bulged, another guy on a different forum had same cap buldged turned out to be fine. I think it getting the pfc voltage fine, just something shutting it down.

Have you checked the PFC voltage?

If I have one it will be on the site...

I do not have 60" but I have 50" which may be close enough

I cant seem to find on the power supply where to check the pfc voltage? I have the manual, but not really helping.

                  Across the large 450V capacitors.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

Desoldering gun station modified to use a 18 volt @ 20 amp switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have wanting to do this project for quite sometime now and I finally found a switching power supply that will work on this desoldering gun station ZD-915 that the original switching power supply took a shit and just was not worth trying to fix it because this switching power is not quite big enough to handle the heater element and the vacuum pump

One note when I tested the switching power supply and the voltage control board I noticed that this desoldering gun heat up much faster than the original switching power supply which I was really surprised by to the point that I might buy...

                    Hitachi Power Supply Unit Interchangeability
                    by navagator
I have a Hitachi 57F710E rear projection set with a bad power supply board. I've tried to fix it with help from this forum as well as another one, but without success. Today I found a Hitachi rear projection set for sale on Facebook that looked just like mine. After contacting the seller I found out it was a 51F510. According to the service manuals my set uses a HA01312, POWER UNIT DP4X-DM_24W and the 51F510 uses a HA01313, U901, POWER UNIT DP4X_24W.

Does anyone know if these 2 power supply boards are interchangeable?

                    Thanks.

Modification to a ZD-987 desoldering/soldering station using a external switching power supply
                    by sam_sam_sam
I have been working on this concept for quite some time now with limited success but recently I found a switching power supply that is setup for the voltage that this soldering station needs to operate at however it also needs part of the secondary circuit from the original switching power because you need several voltage rails

I once tried to get a ZD-915 desoldering station to work on a 18 volt battery power supply but unfortunately things did not go well but I did find a work around but I might try this idea again but going at a little differently more about this another time...

Hi, Can we use SMPS Bench Power Supply for Laptop troubleshooting?
                    by shamsudeen
Hi all, I just need to know that, can i use SMPS type power supply to test and short circuit detection on a laptop motherboard?
I saw 95% of repair guys are using only Linear bench power supply. linear bench power supply is pricy, thats why i planned to get one SMPS supply.

i know that in linear power supply the noise will be very low comparing to SMPS supply....
