There are SMD fuses so check them out, also check and see if it does have 24vdc on both ends of the fuse when TV is on.

Yep thats it. Found em on ebay by part number.

So these SMD fuses. What if I found a bad one and bridged it? What's the worst that could happen?

However, if you tested there to be no short before bridging the fuse: nothing. It'll probably work just fine.

Yes, check all the fuses. If you find one that is blown, a test can be done to see if there are any shorts or not.

I see two fuses. One gives a solid reading of less then 1 ohm. The other was a bit more flaky, the reading kept jumping a bit.

Also, there are three fuses on these boards. Check F101 too. It's smaller than the other two.

Mmm nope, F101 tests as good.

The flaky reading was my multimeter, didn't have a good enough connection.

Any way to test the voltage on each end of the fuses? Red probe on each end, black going to the chassis of the TV.

Uh nope. That inverter is installed upside down and buried under a lot of crap. Testing would be... difficult to say the least.

I have the inverter board out of the TV now. can I do some tests with my multimeter?

Hey guys, I finally got a new inverter board for this TV. I installed it and for the first time the panel lit up!

However, the panel lights up for one second, then goes black again. it lit up enough though to tell me that the TV is tuned to channel 34 and is receiving static.

It could be either a defective inverter or there is a bad bulb in the panel. Can you perhaps connect the TV to a full white image over VGA, then turn the inverter on (perhaps disconnect BL ON and jumper it manually to get a 1~2 second flash.) If you see a dim bar, the panel has a bad bulb. Tricky, but not impossible to replace.

That would be difficult. I don't know how to get the TV into VGA mode, and I can't figure it out with the screen dark.

If it's of any help, the static raster looked even, no dim areas.

I did have a bit of trouble getting all the connectors in. I'm gonna see if I have a loose one.

Oh, something else too. The inverter board is an RU E206453 board, model V144. However the replacement while bearing the exact same model, has two of the mounting holes missing and the circuitry is a bit different. Does this matter?

Tried it again and noted that the inverter was buzzing while the panel was lit.

All right! I finally have the damn thing working!

I ordered a tested and working inverter board off of ebay. It arrived today, put it in and finally after all this time, the TV works!
