    Toshiba 37E200U -- No Power

    Hi again everyone. Thought I had this one figured out on my own but it either has two separate issues or I'm missing something. Ok, to start up the symptom was no power at all. No standby light and no power light when the power button on the side is pressed or on the remote. So, I removed the back and checked for 5V out of the power supply for the standby voltage which it had.

    I then unplugged the control board and inverter board from the PS and put a jumper from the 5V to the PWR pin to force on the PS. Checked all pins on the PS and verified that they had voltages per the labels. So, assuming PS is in good shape. I then assumed at this point that the main board is bad.

    Reconnected the backlight and powered up again with the PS jumped expecting the backlight to show but got nothing. So now I'm wondering if it either needs some type of feedback from the main to turn on (either the dim or inv pin?) or if its also bad. I've done this procedure on several other brands and its always lit up the backlight without the main connected.

    If anyone has an opinion on it, I'd really appreciate the feedback. The PS is definitely putting out 24V to the inverter. I guess it could be the CCFLs but seems unlikely.

    Couldn't read the pins very well on my pic so I posted a pic of a PS just like mine from Ebay.

      Check the "Inv" pin on the connect going to the inverter from the power supply.

          Ok. At work until 5:00 but I'll do that tonight. I believe there is also an INV pin going to the main. Was wondering if I need to feed 5V in to that as well as the PWR pin to startup the backlight. That was my hunch but I didn't want to do it as a guess until someone confirmed.

          Still thinking its just the main that is bad. It really stinks cause the cheapest one I see online is $96. I'll probably just sit on the TV til I see one much cheaper or try to troubleshoot the main itself.

              "Inv" is generated by main, same as Dim. It passes thru power board to reduce wiring clutter (avoiding a second wiring harness.)

                  Cool. I figured it was basically the same as BL-ON with the others I've done but wanted to be sure. I'll test this evening then proceed with the main board troubleshooting. Digging around for a cheaper one but no luck so far.

                  Thanks as always for the advice. You're the best! Not sure how you find time to do anything else as much as you're on here.

                  Also ordered that buffer board for my sister's friend's plasma on Saturday. I'll be back there in two weeks to try that out.

                          Another one in the books. Main board did it. Probably break even on this one but at least someone will have a nice set to watch.

                              Good morning forum. This laptop comes into my laboratory with the defect that it won't turn on. By connecting the bench power supply I have an absorption of 1.56A (battery charging), I disconnect the battery, I have an absorption of 0.01A. I give the power on but it doesn't react. I check the mainboard and I notice the Isl88732 charger with oxide and a little burnt between pins 7-8.                               Hi all!

                              I'm trying to troubleshoot a Microsoft Surface Pro (5th gen) model 1796 that won't power on. Motherboard model is M1007506-015. My priority is retrieving data, but the SSD is integrated so it looks like if I can't repair it it'll need to go to a data recovery company. I've done a little basic board repair before, but nothing this advanced until now. So please forgive my ignorance in advance. 😅

                              The set is not turning on, when buttons on the front are pressed the button press sound is coming from the speakers, but the set is not trying to turn on, consuming only couple of watts.

                              I am troubleshooting a Vestel 17PW26-5 from the set. Not sure how it is supposed to turn on main supply, but with the main board disconnected not getting the main supply to turn on either.
