Thanks Tom Will a DG502 be Ok in place of the DG501 as i am out of 501s but can get my hands on DG502? when i these faulty parts are replaced and with the SS board out will the green LED light up on the SN to show if its working

have you read post #31? The LED will light for as long as it takes for the SOS to trigger which is pretty much straight away. This bad SN I have it lights momentarily, not full brightness.

Not sure how much of a guide that will be for you.

Also, this cct design and parts, are very close to the 5081. With Q661 shorted I'd be wary of IC773. What do you get in diode pins 3 - 4 ?

Got any ymain from Samsung 42C450 series? RJP63F3 on them.

i have the RJP63F as these are used in lots, am out of DG501s can get 502s?With regards IC733 in diode mode com to Pin 3 - Pin 4 shows .146,com to pin 4 - Pin 3 shows .234 ? but thats with the shorted Q661 still in the board

On the dead board I'm getting short(.07), on working board 0.6 and .9 charging to a bit over 1.0.

My Q661 was short all 3 legs.

i dont know what that is telling us but will retest when i replace Q661,you used a DG502 for the 501 i will do the same as i have no 501s if it worked for you should be Ok,i will try to get the parts changed tomorrow and let you know if it changes the readings on IC733, i have a new RFU20 to replace D461 and new JRP63f for Q661

well here is were i am at replaced D481(RFU20) +Q661(RJP63F) and removed and tested Q451(DG502)the short is not on the component but shows across the collector - emitier pad on the board so have left replacing this for now but have not returned it to the board, i rechecked in diode mode IC733 and still showing the .146/.238 it was before the replacement of Q661, the thing is now is there allways this short across Q451 or is something else short ( diode) ?

Did not have to look to far D451 goes across C-E on Q451 and it reads short both ways just need to find a replacement

That could be handy info if i try repairing this. It was going to be a toss up on whether to start at the Transistor or diode. i have found though generally when those IGBTs fail, they're shorted on all three legs.

Got any scrap boards to scavange?

yes i will find S/fast recovery diode off something( 600v 1 Amp) have a lot of old LG Sus boards sure to have them on,will leave it till my IGBTs get here for the SS board, what do you make of the readings on IC773? Thanks again for your input Flocko

I trust your meter is of reasonable quality so it's off compared to my working board.

A shorted Q661 points me to the inverter cct and i'd take my time being real careful looking for shorted transistors and Q818 did not go short but was faulty on the 5081.

I'd be suspicious of Q818, 2SK3018 but a 2N7002 will also work. Package size is a pain though, smaller than the others.

I see in the States some one on Ebay has repair kits for the TNPA 5066 and TNPA 5072 does not list all part but for the SN Q401/Q402/Q421/Q661 IC7xx/,transistors and diode 9 parts in total, and for the SS just 5 parts, they say will fix 90% of faults

Yes i have seen them,do you have a parts list for this board as i am thinking that if i change IC733/Q818/Q603/and Q702 that should tick most of the known faulty components what do you think, as Q818( 2SK3018 ) is less than a £1 that with the other parts i could get out of this for under £10 Flocko

Only list is what you'd have in the service manual, then a matter of either searching within the forum as i have listed some I have worked out or look at the markings and try google. Q603 is a real number as it is a panasonic product. the others will be found in the 5081 repair thread I did.

Thanks TW i did not think to see if there was a sub on that,i can now get all now apart from DSA2001S0L over here. As for buying 100 i would put the rest on Ebay only need to sell one for a £1 to get my money back and could make £99.00 if i got lucky.

These maybe correct size. You'll have to check. I got the wrong size and still managed to just solder it in.
2N7002 is pretty common , original is 2SK3018T106 size is UMT3 or SOT323. Again up to you to be certain.
