Samsung LED TV Model LN-S4041D intermittent loss of picture (sounds still works)

I read a lot about bad caps on these TVS, but could a intermittent loss of picture be caused by caps? I will turn it on and sometimes it works fine, shut it off and turn it on later with no picture. No other symptoms like cracking or popping.

Before, I tear into it and look for swelling caps, can caps fail like this?

    Thanks in advance,

    Bill

Capacitors would not be a typical suspect with this problem. In a dark room, when the picture is gone, can you see a glow from the screen or not? (Backlight)

I will check thanks. I am pretty sure it does not have a glow, but what would be if there isn't one?

      Thanks again.

T-con or main board w/ glowing screen.
Inverter, power or main board w/o glowing screen.

You usually won't for most LCD TVs, but it can help to have one.

I tried the TV this morning and the screen is blank, no backlight and sound is working. Now what?

Take the cover off, and provide clear pictures of each of the boards in the TV.

replace all secondary caps and resolder everything attached to a heatsink on that power supply.
that is not an led set either.
                          i see these often.

I tested all the diodes and transistors in circuit. DB851 and db803 appear bad (both directions). Could those be the cause? I am looking for a schematic for the BN44-00134D. Thanks again.

Intermittent would be unlikely to be caused by a permanent failure.

You were correct tom66. The replacement diode did not fix anything. Should I test the voltages prior to changing out. All the caps? Thanks again.

Yes, check all the voltages on the output side, in particular check the backlight on/off signal CN1803 pin 1.

Hi from Oz, some years since last posted. This set is 3 years old and had almost no use in that time. Brought it out of hibernation a month ago. Problem came up shortly after. Set is always turned off at pp when not being used. Turn it on and logo comes up then picture but after a few to around 15 minutes the picture start blinking irregularly for a time then go completely off, backlights remain on. Leave it and after 10 - 20 minutes picture will come back on and sometimes do the same thing again but then will stabilise and run normally for hours until switched off.
                                        I have pulled back off...

Hi guys! I realized you have a lot of knowledge here so i am hoping you could point me in right direction with my odd issue.

The Tv is a Philips 58PUS8545/12, it had no picture but working backlights.

                                        Original T-con:
Opened the Tv and tested to unplug one ribbon cable at a time. With this test i could see that i got fine picture on both halves as long as there was only one ribbon cable connected, with two connected picture were gone.

                                        First replacement T-con:

I thought it might be t-con and ordered new t-con from china(supposedly tested)...

This was my main TV for the last 6 years. I'm not inclined to throw out a $2600 TV so quickly so I'm trying to investigate the issue.

                                        Problem
TV was disconnected from power for 6 months during construction. When I plugged it yesterday picture was fine, after 30 seconds it dimmed then started developing horizontal lines, picture then starts to ghost vertically until it degrades into vertical streaks. TV always displays a perfect picture when cold. I can unplug TV for 5 minutes and plug it back in and picture is restored for 20 seconds. I can also keep it in standby mode...

                                        Hi, I have a Samsung UE50TU with:
                                        - sound and backlight, but no picture
                                        - when it arrived, it had a picture for a few seconds
                                        - it keeps rebooting
                                        - without ribbon cable between the two panel boards, it does not reboot but I have no picture
                                        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel, it does not reboot (but obviously i have no picture)
                                        - when i try a tape fix, its keeps rebooting, unless I tape off pin 1 (the innermost pin). In that case it does not reboot but I have no picture.

                                        - without cable between mainboard and lcd panel and with a jumpered...
