    50ps3000 getting hot

I Have an LG 50PS3000 I have just rebuilt the ZSUS board replacing several MOSFETS and still no picture. I then found the switching MOSFET on the Ysus board short that produces the DD voltage stated on the board as 15v. I know have a good picture and all was looking good however after running for a few mins i found the MOSFETS Q13,14 and 15 on the Zsus board where getting very hot so I turned off the set and disconnected the Zsus board to prevent any further damage. I measured the 15vDD voltage and it is about 18v. I have also changed all the caps on the control board after reading some stuff on the net but still getting hot. I have also read that replacement of the control board can cure this fault but other than the MOSFET switching wave form I fail to see how this could help. I have also read that other people have commented on line that there 15v dd is also high so not sure how accurate this has to be?
also that there is a newer version of the control board with a newer software version to cure the over heating issues ( mine is rev L). could any one advise on these issues
    regards

    Re: 50ps3000 getting hot

It is normal for the high power transistors on these to run hot. Any temperature up to around 100°C on the case surface is safe. I recall burning myself on the back of a Panasonic plasma panel -- the heatsink for a PZ80 42" 1080p panel, which ran very hot (around 80°C measured by my thermocoupler.) While a low 15V line would likely cause problems with the MOSFETs and cause them to run a lot hotter than they should, a high 15V would actually be more beneficial (up to a limit of around 20~25V.) This is because it increases the saturation time and drive current of the transistors, meaning they waste less power during the high frequency switching period.

Thank you for the fast reply I have purchased two manuals for this set of the net but both do no contain any information of on the boards I want. I think they may be all the same and if so they are a very poor excuse of a manual. I don't understand why the manufacturer does not put all the circuit diagrams in the manual?
I understand what you are saying about the MOSFETS I don't have a way of measuring the heat but mine are so hot you can smell them cooking?

That might be a fault but the only way you will know is by measuring their temperature. You could use something like this
        http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Digital-In...item3cd201d4ac
if you need to satisfy you curiosity. I've used them with success before.

          Thanks
Are they accurate enough? By the way good luck with the studies I am just finishing a masters in electronic product development currently working on the final thesis. I am doing mine distance learning so trying to fit that around a full time job it is hard work.
          Cheers

They measure within +/-1.5°C of my calibrated, precision thermocouple reference. Only issue, you can only measure black surface (like surface of transistor or black heatsink.) As they cannot accurately measure reflective surfaces.

I've had a good first year. Good luck with your studies, too.

I was given this TV from my great uncle. He said it just wouldn't turn on one day out of nowhere, replaced the TV, and gave it to me to possibly fix and use for myself.

Upon bringing it home and plugging it up, it showed a standby light.

I powered it on and without a flashlight, the display showed the "V" but the lighting is very dim, but visible.

The screen seems to blackout and stay black, but with a flashlight I can see the display.

With my Playstation 4 connected via HDMI, and running a game I can hear sound.

LG OLED77G1PUA - No Video / Audio after a TCON Board change and Software Update
                by Hakuu
                Hi There,

This TV was auto switching off after few seconds with some vertical lines on the screen, so got a new TCON board and replaced it.

After replacing the TCON board it was working fine and i set it up with everything, used for few hours, then had the bright idea to update the software on it. During the update process, TV switched off and now no audio or video. No relay switch sound.

                More Details

Hi, this is my personal laptop, which the original board (lets call it Board A) blew up PU8700 (TPS51486), making a hole on the board, i had left the laptop at my desk one day with the battery fully charged and didn't touch it for a week, but when i tried to turn it on it didn't
Thought the battery was dead, so i plugged in the charger then tried to power on, the power LED blinked once, charged LED still orange, unplugged the charger, plugged in again and I noticed the "magic smoke" smell, so i unplugged the charger, removed the back cover and saw the blown IC (the "magic...

Panasonic TC-P54VT25 No image. A or D board?
                by canadaboy25
I have a Panasonic TC-P54VT25 that will power on and prime the display but there is no image at all.

The panel is primed as there is a slight glow from the entire panel. This means the problem should be logic related. The service manual also confirms this and recommends replacing the A or the D board.

I have tried to get the TV to display the test sequence but I have been unable to and I don't even know if this TV has a test sequence or not. I tried following tom66's instructions in post #3 on this thread https://www.badcaps.net/forum/showthread.php?t=26790. There was...

Panasonic switching power supply daughter board has two 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors which I do not keep in stock
                by sam_sam_sam
I did not have any 27uf @ 50 volt capacitors but one nice thing is that it has enough room for two capacitors in parallel a 22uf and a 4.7uf @ 50 volts 22 plus 4.7 equals 26.7uf which so very close to 27uf I will show some pictures of it sometime tomorrow

This is one of the shit est boards I seen in a very long time and it was the daughter board the traces just lifting off the board I had to use the capacitor leads to repair the the traces and the main board is not any better because I had to repair several traces for the daughter board to the main board
