Samsung model PS50A556S2FXXU TAKES LONG TO TURN ON

Hello hon members, I'm new on this forum and I intoroduce myself as Comrade Gibby.
I've a samsung plasm tv model above, I purchased it on 28/08/2008 new. Last month it started taking time to turn on, it was 2 mims, then 5mins, 15mins, 1 hr, 5hrs whole day then 3 day. I tried all troubleshooting, opened the back pannel to check bad capacitors and I discovered that all capacitors appeared fine, checked the fuses all are ok. By chance it came on two days ago and I've left it on since then and its working fine, I don't know if I am cause any harm to it.
From what I've been told by many people is the PSB and they insist I should change the whole power supply board (part no. BN4400222A WF3.5 Rev 1.0).
    Please help honourable members.
One more thing, if you recommend to change the power supply board, where could I get one? I've tried ebay and many places but find only one used on ebay.
    Thanks Hon members:

As you say it sure could be a bad cap, but might be a bad solderjoint or something else as well. I would recommend taking as detailed pictures as possible of the psu board and post here for people to be able to assist you better.

You have a temperature sensitive problem. As temperature rises something gets hot enough to drift into operational characteristics, and the TV can work.

Therefore, I suggest when (not if) it fails, you take the cover off, and start heating parts of the power supply and main board. You can use a household hairdryer for this. If this makes it work, you have found the part which is faulty, and you can replace it or narrow in on the individual components. Main board failure is most common on these models.

Hello Sir, thanks very much for your help. I haven't tried your suggestion yet because, after three days of trying switching on and off it came on. since then (7days ago) I have left it on and its functioning normally. What I do when we're through watching the tv, I disconnect the cable from sky boxHD then after a minute or so the tv goes on screen protection mode.
So do you think I should switch it off and try you suggestion? Or should I wait for the parts which I bought on Ebay? Someone sold me all the parts or components of the tv at £95 some few days ago.
Thanks very much sir, I really appreciate your help. By the way do you leave anywhere near Essex? Sorry I'm asking because you mentioned that you are a technician in your post.

Under the "Reply to Thread" section select Manage Attachments. You can then browse to where the files are on your phone and select "Open". When you have selected all of your files press Upload and they will appear below your post.

It still sounds like bad capacitors. The electrolyte inside them sometimes dries up, and the capacitor changes in capacitance ... but it doesn't bulge/explode, because there is no electrolyte inside to boil into steam.

What brand(s) are the capacitors? Typical crappy ones are "CapXon", "Samwha", "Teapo", "Elite", and many more...

...good brands are "Nippon-chemi-con", "Nichicon", "Rubycon", "Panasonic", and a few others which are not so common.

Thanx sir for your advice, just a quick question, if the caps are gone, can a tv function normally once it turns on? What happen to my tv is that, after failing to turn on for three days, it did and since then I've not switched it off and its working normally. Thanx

the bad capacitors are likely to fry other components. One example is in some Bestec ATX power supplies. A bad capacitor can cause the standby 5v output to rise to nearly 20v, killing the motherboard.

Sometimes bad caps on these can corrupt the EEPROM, which is very difficult to fix without the right tools (aside from a complete board swap.)

Looks like mostly or completely Samyoung. Samyoung are "OK" caps, they rarely fail. Not the best, but far from the worst.

Ok sir, sorry, not familiar with technical language. The good thing is that someone sold me all the parts inside the tv, so I will start changing one by one, thus what I think. Any idea or suggestion?

Change the main board first. If that fails, the logic board can be considered, but try the main board for a few days first.
