Toshiba 32AV555D - Screen with Lines

    Hi all

We have a toshiba regza 32av555d with many lines; some thick when the tv is switched on at first. If left on for 15mins+ the screen will display 100% ok as in no lines at all. TV is ok if hot

We really don't know where to start. Can someone point us in the right path?

A good place to start is to take the back off, then start heating parts one by one with a hairdryer or other heating instrument. Try focusing your heat on particular areas. If you find the problem goes away when some part is heated, repeat until you are confident the problem is in that general area.

        Heated everything but nothing.

If the Sky box is not connected, the tv will turn off. When sky box is connected, we left it on for 15+mins and no lines displayed. I dont think its a heating issue...I think. Any pointers to test?

TV turning off with no signal is normal.

You will probably need to do the reverse - use freeze spray - as it is a lot easier to concentrate it - I would focus on the main board (which has HDMI and other inputs on it.)

Ok. This picture show when first connected:

And after few minutes, around 10mins+, this:

Then it shows clear and 100% ok.

            Im lost.

Did you try freeze spray? (Buy one of those compressed air-in-a-can things, turn it upside-down, and aim it random parts until the lines come back)

Need to visit ebay. I'll do that and report.

BTW, will it damage the components? Short anything?

Ok I have found the issue! There is a pcb that attaches to the display. See pictures:

                  and

C1 is damaged. Whenever I put heat over it, the lines on the display are gone. Any schematics for that part?

Measure the voltage across it when working properly. From that info you can estimate the capacitance based on size. e.g. 15V across, typically cap will be 25V rated so likely 10uF if 0.12x0.06" dimension (1206.)

Spot on. voltge is 14.99v (15v) so I take it the capacitance would be 10uf.

                      Edit:

We've found another cap with voltage across is 15v. We used it but same display issue. When this area is heated, as in pic below, the display is perfect:

Could it be the resistor the culprit? Nothing is behind the pcb.

                        I have the same issue,
                        How finally resolve this?

                          Screen Display Vertical Multicolor Lines
                          by Stanley1843
Hello, I have a screen in where sometimes when I open it pop-up vertical multicolor lines (I would say the most of them are green). If I tun off and turn on the screen the lines dissapear or if I leave open the screen after approximately five minutes the lines gone. I measured the below voltages on the main PCB and on the T-CON board and the voltages are the same when it doesn’t display the vertical lines and when it displays the vertical lines. Also, I cleaned all the connectors very good with IPA. I moved back and forth the connectors and the COF tabs but the vertical lines didn't displayed...

                          Hi all
I have lines on the screen...which is an age old problem that can be remedied by watching Youtube videos and getting out the tape.
My issue (after successfully fixing a different sammy tv with a separate tcon board and isolating the side of the panel...):

This tv has an integrated tcon...so it is a bit more confusing when trying to isolate the clocks.
It has a c ribbon and i have taken each end out to see if that will isolate the lines. instead, it makes it much worse ALL over the tv!

So....i don't know what end of the C ribbon to work with...

Hello everybody! Posting this in hopes somebody has some expertise that leads to a clear path of troubleshooting that saves me a lot of time!

My macbook has the flex cable problem, the one that prevents the screen turning on. Ive been dealing with this for the last 3 years. Last year it went dead and I managed to fix it following youtube tutorials. But my fix wasnt the best, the problem returned a month later. This week, it went dead again. I again tried to fix it.

This time the original cable broke too close to the screen, it can't be fixed without tearing the screen...

As stated by the person I collected the TV from, it just stopped working overnight. However, I still gave it a go to try and repair it.

There is a thread on the same TV but with slightly different issues where they had to tape connection points on the ribbon cable, so I want to see if this is repairable by any chance.

After bringing it home and plugging it in, the TV turned on with its backlight working but had no picture. After removing the back cover, the first thing I tried is to unplug one of the ribbon cables and the situation is as follows.
