Oh I got to see a beast of engineering today.
60" LG plasma, full HD.
Fault is that it is slow to start up, sometimes makes a squeaking sound from speakers, sometimes doesn't turn on. When it fails to turn on, the power LED flashes green, before going back red. It will repeat the cycle until it has booted up, which may take 5 ~ 15 minutes.
I checked the service menu and found the power offs to be labelled as "POWER_OFF_BY_ABN"; which means "powered off due to abnormal condition".
The power supply was a Sanken part with excellent quality capacitors, so that was ruled out, for now. The fault appears to be on the main board. May get pictures later, if I can! It looked actually really well made. No hybrids.
New main board is £45, I am repairing this for a friend, unfortunately I don't get to keep it!
