Polaroid 3732 had blue light no picture now no power after cap replacement

    Hey everyone

I had the issue where I got blue light and no picture and/or high pitched sounds. I opened it up and saw 2 bad caps.

Replaced them and now the TV won't turn on at all i.e. no blue light. Seems like it's dead. It's my gf tv and I don't visit often so I can't remember what state it was in before I did work to it i.e. if my soldering messed it up. I will note that some of the dark green circuit board came off the wood, only a small area maybe .5cm but it seems to be down ok and soldered in ok. Is there anyway to try and salvage this shite TV?

Also I may mention I don't have that plastic sheath on the back. No idea why that would stop it from working.

    thanks for any help

... yeah, that's your problem. The board is fiberglass composite, by the way, not wood. The copper layer on top of it must be connected to the capacitor terminal. There's no point in soldering it, if nothing is connecting to the lead! As far as the standby light, every Polaroid I have seen has it glowing in standby, off in operation.

      Thanks for your quick reply.

Well i pushed it down and then just put a lot of solder on. Maybe some pics can help show what I"ve done wrong etc:

Cut off the legs. You may have shorted out the entire board by leaving those legs.

          HOLY MOTHER OF SWEET JESUS

I just clipped those legs and pushed down the little bit of detached fibre glass a bit as it was up by 1mm or 2 and everything seems to be working!! Getting red light n blue light and it turns on to generic blue input screen. Will have to actually use it and come back here if I get more issues.

          Wow you guys rule.

            Amen.

sounds like the track was broken? Did you repair it by exposing some copper and soldering over the break?

My thinking to begin with was to push the green stuff down then solder liberally so try and 'glue'/hold it down. I still saw when opening it up again (for the 8th time) that it was up ever so slightly so i just pushed it down with my finger and it seemed to stay down. I remember from my first days of soldering not to let the soldering where the components of legs go through board to cross with the other tracks? Not sure if that's true.

As you can tell I don't specialise in electronics, I work in IT though and did soldering at my secondary school 7+ years ago ha. Seems like school was relevant for something.

I was not sure if it was the trimming or pushing that fixed it for you. I like the humour, got a chuckle from post#5 and the pics. Nice recovery

fibreglass pen to scratch away the top green layer to expose copper and then a wire bridge to fix the track is the best way to go rather than just heating up a already broken track

Nintendo 2DS XL – Orange light, no blue light, signs of overheating
                    by Tomylee
Hi everyone, I have a Nintendo 2DS XL that shows the orange charging light when plugged in, but nothing happens when I press the power button — no blue light, no screen, no sound.

                    Here's what I've observed:

All ribbon cables are properly connected

Battery is present and in good condition

No reaction even with screens disconnected

There's a visible burn mark / overheating sign on the metal shield, right above the CPU

I’m suspecting an issue with the CPU, PMIC, NAND, or a power...

                    proscan 40ld45q

Have tried published resets with no help. (unplug for 10, push on-off for 30, push menu and vol +, etc.)

After being plugged in, red light comes on. Push power button and blue light comes on for ~five seconds then goes out. Power button does not turn the unit on a second time - have to unplug/re-plug before power button will try to start with blue light.

No sound, no picture (used flashlight test).

No bulging cap, no burn spots, no burn smells, nothing visual (cold joints/breaks/bugs).

PS5 EDM-033 Blue Light 2 Sec then Powers Off
                    by TurboTundra
Hi, I am waiting for my uart tool so I can grab an error code and narrow down where my issue is, but I decided to measure capacitors and fuses to insure everything was okay.

The PS5 turns on with a blue light and a beep for 1-2 seconds then turns off. I noticed a grey capacitor measures no voltage on standby or input power. Does this indicate a problem with the capacitor or something down on the line? I’m getting 3.3v on input with the red cap next to the grey one, and 5.2v on input with the red cap further away from the grey cap.

                    Thank you for any input...

PS5 Slim EDM-040 Only turn on 1 Sec, Blue light then immediate off.
                    by dionzarek
Hello everyone, I am new to this PS5 troubleshooting, I need help on diagnosing the problem. My PS5 Slim board EDM-040 that beep and only shows blue light then immediately turn off.

I've checked the PSU its normal 12V. I've checked all the capacitors its all good no shorts, but there are 2 caps shorted, I think its near the SSD. You can look at the image attachment.

When tested it only shows 0.003 while other caps show 0.4 to 1. WHen in continuity mode those 2 caps goes beep/shorted.

Any help to where should I check on or suggestion would be very appreciated....
