LG 37LC55 Random Flickering and then Standby

    Hi

My LG 37LC55 randomly starts to flicker then the flickering gets faster and then it goes in to standby. From cold (eg over night) I'll get 2 hours or so out of it, then over an other hour it will happen faster and faster until it will only stay on for about 2 minutes.

The first thing i did was replace the Cap's on the power board (c202,c206,c210,c217,c218,c226) but it's made no difference.

Reading around the net some say it could be the TCon board or the Inverter or the main av board.

    any ideas ?

    Thanks

Look at the rear of the set while it's working, you'll see the backlight coming through the rear. Does the backlight visibly flicker when the TV starts flickering?

      Sorry about the late reply.

I took off the back cover to get a better look at the light emitting from the CFL & guess what? The damn things still on after 12 hours lol, So got to be a overheating issue.

I know the inverter has electrolytic cap's on it, so i'll start there.

I've never done the hairdryer test before (got a ww2 Clairol Turbo thingy) any ruff guidelines on how long to heat things up before they should fail from a bad cap or dry joint?

      Thanks

Typically a minute or two is enough to show up problems. Taking the cover off has probably made the TV run cooler, but it will fail eventually.
