Hello everyone,
I'm attempting to fix an apparent '2 seconds to black' issue with my Samsung LCD TV, the full model number is LA52A850S1FXXY. The TV was purchased in 2008 and is definitely out of warranty. After reading about some of the issues Samsung were having with capacitors, I called them regarding this issue but they don't want to know about it... after going through the usual reset, etc. process they referred me to a service centre here in Melbourne, Australia.
When I turn on the TV, I get picture for a moment (approx 1 second) and then the screen can only be seen with a flashlight, sound works fine.
Initially after the fault occurred I read about capacitor issues with Samsung TV's, and opened it up to have a look. There didn't seem to be any blown caps anywhere on the boards. On the power board there was 6 capacitors next to the cables which went to the inverter boards which looked rather suspect as most of them were slightly crooked, I replaced all 6 of these but still the problem occurred.
After doing some further research I came upon this website and from what I understand, 2 seconds to black could quite possibly be related to the inverter boards? I went through retiredcaps' guide on troubleshooting 2 seconds to black but haven't had much luck. I tested the mosfets but all seem OK. There doesn't seem to be any fuses on the inverter boards? There are 4 capacitors on each of the master and slave boards, and I replaced these to be safe, but still the problem occurs. I'm a little confused as to how to test the transformers, if anyone can provide some advice that would be great.
I've posted a pic of the master inverter board, the slave board looks pretty much the same. If anyone can kindly point me in the right direction that would be greatly appreciated. If worse comes to worse I'm happy to purchase replacement inverter boards if the problem can be confidently isolated to this part of the TV?
Many thanks,
Mohammad
