    Re: Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A Won't power on

Ok, so while I'm sending back the new power supply for replacement, I'm trying to fix the old one. Going back to what budm said I could try with the light bulb, I did try that today. Just like he said, the light bulb is brightly lit up. So, I assume this means I have something shorted very badly. I don't know what though.

If it helps, my wife said when the TV stopped working, there was a loud popping sound and then the smell of something burning. I just don't see anything burned on the board though, so that didn't help me.

My neighbor thinks that the bridge is bad. He said it measures weird, like it's closed at times when it shouldn't be. I took pictures of it - RadioShack doesn't have anything like it, and I can't find a matching part number online either. The writing on the thing looks like it says:

        D15XB 60 BF184

I don't know anything about this part. Is there a place I could search online?

The two inner pins should measure open (i.e. no change on your meter in the ohms or diode mode, either way around.) Do they?

In diode mode, I touch both inner pins and it shows ".OL" on my meter. Not sure if that's what you mean. Nothing happens - it doesn't show a number like if I would touch it to another metal surface or something.

              Re: Vizio VO42L FHDTV10A Won't power on

The bridge is most likely not the cause of the fault then. Some more tests can be done to rule it out entirely.

From each ~ to + you should see around 400~800 with the red probe on the ~ and black on +.

From each ~ to - you should see around 400~800 with the red probe on the - and black on ~.

You should never see any zero or near zero reading.

              Do you?

Yep, according to the tests you mention, this piece checks out. Back to the drawing board I guess. Thanks for the info.

I am having the exact Same problem. No Power coming out of the PS. The Fuse is good and the Rectifier seems to work fine.
