50in hitachi plasma tv 50pd690dta power issue

    Hey there

So new to this forum and a little out of my field ha. I typically fix much smaller electronics (phones) as I run a iphone repair biz. I have recently acquired a 50 in hitachi plasma tv that showed display problems.

I have since found from scouring the web and these forums that the lower sdr buffer has gone bad and I have parts on order. I know that this was an issue because as soon I remove the faulty part the upper portion of the screen displayed.

This leads me to my second issue. When plugged into power. The red power light comes on. Upon clicking the power button (on TV set and on remote), the tv clicks three times ( third click I believe to be the cooling fan attempting to start as it twitches but does not turn on), followed by two more clicks about 3-5 seconds later. During first three clicks. The power button switches from the red indicator to green (blue) and does not appear to flash a sequence code. Followed but returning to red light when the second 2 clicks happen.

Now when powering up, grey lines appear on the upper portion of the tv, so apparently that means something that I can't remember ha. Maybe that the yseus board is ok?

So what am I asking with this long post?

So beside the lower buffer? What may need replaced, I have seen stuff from the main power board, ac plug, to simply playing with the ospocuplers?(or however it is spelled ha) essentially to bypass some part of the ac power.

Also, since the fan does not seem to start, only slightly jerk during power, will that need replaced?

I can post photos tomorrow if needed.

Let me know if I missed any info that may be relevant or useful.

    Cheers

You should try with the Y-sus disconnected, does it behave differently?

        Hey Tom.

So disconnected the ysus board, low and behold the problem vanished.

So what does this mean? Does the board also need replaced?

It means you have a bad/shorted y-sus, which is a very common issue. The y-sus are very expensive, usually, so you have to fix it at the component level.

So think it's easy to explain how to start going about it? I've got soldering equipment and such plus I can most likely get all the other stuff from the local elecy shop.

Other wise may have to find out if the local old tv shops have any old hitachi plasmas sitting around I can scavenge.

I've never repaired one like this myself, so I'm not sure how to fix it. I'd suggest testing for shorted transistors etc.

                    Hitachi 50HK6100U display issue
                    by MDY94
I own a Hitachi 50HK6100U with a display fault. After some troubleshooting, I've found that removing one tcon cable produces a clear image on the side still connected. Removing the other tcon still provides display output; however, this is a heavily distorted image. With both cables connected, only the top ~25% of the screen provides display output which is still distorted. It's only when both are connected that most of the screen no longer provides output. The attached images show the screen with each tcon cable disconnected, and one with both connected. The red line shows where the display cuts...

Samsung Plasma TV Power Supply Issue
                    by lp20th
I have a vintage 2008 Samsung 50” Plasma TV, Model code PN50A550S1FXZA with a power supply part number BN44-00222A. I repaired the power supply board several years ago finding a couple of cold solder joints on the back side of the board and it's worked great up until now. Recently a fried sound occurred with the smell of burnt electronics and the TV shut down. Trying to turn it back on yielded the typical relay clicking with no TV boot up. Upon investigation, removing feeds to the other boards within the TV it was found that disconnecting the logic board from the power supply allowed the...

                    Hitachi 57F710E Power Issue
                    by navagator
I have a Hitachi 57F710E Rear Projection TV that was working great until 3 or 4 days ago. I came in and tried to turn it on and it was just dead. So, I unplugged it and plugged it back in. Nothing, not even the slight click that it makes when you plug it in. So, I removed the power supply board (It's a vertically mounted board, I believe model HA01312) and inspected it visually for bulged caps or burnt or overheated components, anything that didn't look right and couldn't find anything.

I noticed on the bottom of the board there was a row of solder joints with voltages printed next...

MacBook Air A2337 (820-02016) USB-C Port Issue – Only Works in One Orientation (CC Line Problem?)
                    by rounin
                    Hi everyone,

I'm working on a MacBook Air 2020 (A2337, board 820-02016) and running into a strange USB-C issue. I've gone through quite a bit of testing and part replacement, but I'm stuck — hoping someone here can shed some light.

                    🛠 Original Issue
                    The machine initially wouldn't negotiate 20V over USB-C — stuck at 5V.
Diagnosis showed PP1V5_UPC0_LDO_CORE shorted to ground.

I replaced U3100 (UF400) using a donor board (A2179), and the machine powers on fine now.

⚠️ New Problem: One USB-C Port Only Works in One Orientation...
