Optical unit going bad on JVC HD-61Z886 DLP TV

Hey guys. Like the title says I have a JVC HD-61Z886 television. In the past two weeks, the picture has started to change. The top and bottom of the TV screen have a slight yellow tint to them, and the picture itself appears to be separating (kind of like if you took your 3d glasses off at a 3d movie). It has been diagnosed as a failing optical unit (or light engine). Now here is where it gets interesting.

JVC still has 2 in stock at their warehouse, but they are $600 each (part number is TS-COP6A-SAA). That's a little steep for a 7 year old TV. Do any of you guys know a company that can rebuild an optical unit for this TV? Two of the places I called can only rebuild them for other businesses. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Optical unit going bad on JVC HD-61Z886 DLP TV

So I've called a couple places to see what my options are. Both Hong Video Technology (http://www.hvtnet.com/hvt_services.php) and Professional Service solutions (http://www.profservsolutions.com/pss_dle.php) have the ability to repair my optical unit. There is one problem though. They do not deal with individual consumers. They are only business to business. I checked out Encompass and Tristate module for rebuilt parts. Unfortunately neither of them have a rebuilt option or can rebuild mine (for whatever reason).

Any suggestions? Any services you guys can recommend? I wonder if its possible that some tv repair shop could sent it in?

Repair of an LG split AC system indoor unit PCB
      by ngml
I am trying to repair an LG split AC indoor unit, which does not start and gives a CH05 error code.
This indicates an error in the communication between the outdoor and the indoor unit.
The outdoor unit is fine, so the problem is the indoor PCB.
The indoor unit is an LG PC09SQ NSJ (3SNM09JA2FA), and the PCB has the following type number: EAX35907219-1.2 (see photo1)
I changed optocouplers ICO1X & ICO2X and the NPN transistor S9013 which drives optocoupler ICO2X (see photo2), but this did not remedy the fault.

Does anybody have the schematics of this board,...

Air-conditioning unit power supply failing to power up
      by Gjackson
Hi all, I managed to narrow down which PCB was causing my Haier AC to throw out an E7 error code (E7 indicates that the indoor unit and outdoor unit cannot communicate). I found that the outdoor unit power board which gives 5v and 15v to the outdoor unit module board fails to fully power up.. The power Led starts to fade in incredibly slowly and the 5v and 15v power buses jump around like crazy and never reach their required voltage. I unplugged the module board from the power board and the power board powered up fine! It had a steady 5v and 15v out and the power LED came on instantly and Bright....

Air Con PCB repair : some general question
      by dicky96
      Hi guys
I've been getting more air con controller boards of various brands for repair - mainly the ones from the outdoor compressor unit and I realise I have a lot of gaps in my specific knowledge, while being pretty good at electronic repair in general.

Does anyone know of any good resources for information on this sort of repair? I'm hoping here there will be some guys who are experienced in this. I'd specifically like more info on how the controller PCB works, because I expect they are all pretty much the same, and especially how it communicates with the indoor unit (protocols,...

      Hitachi Power Supply Unit Interchangeability
      by navagator
I have a Hitachi 57F710E rear projection set with a bad power supply board. I've tried to fix it with help from this forum as well as another one, but without success. Today I found a Hitachi rear projection set for sale on Facebook that looked just like mine. After contacting the seller I found out it was a 51F510. According to the service manuals my set uses a HA01312, POWER UNIT DP4X-DM_24W and the 51F510 uses a HA01313, U901, POWER UNIT DP4X_24W.

Does anyone know if these 2 power supply boards are interchangeable?

      Thanks.

      Repair Success! Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP
      by valvashon
Yesterday I successfully repaired a Middle Atlantic UPS2200R-IP that had inadvertently been used as a surge suppressor at our transmitter site. It has already been replaced with an updated one but it's coming home with me now instead of being e-cycled. To be specific, this is the MA model that has the blue backlit display and has been discontinued, although this design may have been used in many UPS units including the smaller Middle Atlantic ones in this series.

Here's what happened: We experienced a brownout/surge at the site, which damaged the UPS and took our broadcasting...
